Re: Another pic. Grey F1 in Japan

jkbon,
I think he was researching other info...not the opening hours or location.

He was researching the location. MOST of us didn't know which museum the cars were in until you made that post

Re: Another pic. Grey F1 in Japan

jkbon,
I don't think Peloton was keeping the location a secret on purpose. He shares everything he has, and 90% of the knowledge on this board is from what he knows. He was probably trying to confirm everything before he posted, to make sure the information was correct. Why would anyone keep the location a secret? First of all, it's public information available on the web to anyone who can understand written Japanese. Secondly, it only helps to share because now anyone who has the opportunity can go there;hopefully they will share their pics as generously as Peloton shares what he has.

I got the info from the Japanese kid who was going to help me with the videos on that website--before he changed his mind and decided he didn't want the hassle of paying $2 or $3 to register--even though I was willing to pay him back several times that. I didn't realize I had not posted the address before.

My website's limping along...when(!) it goes public, it will have all this info on it, in Ingrish!

Re: Another pic. Grey F1 in Japan

F1 monster, one more time I will be the bad guy then :

Yes, 90% of the knowledge on this board is from what he knows, but you forget that 90% of the knowledge he knows is from this forum (and others)

Do you realy think that it's better to search alone that together ?

With the little informations from bucciali and yours, it's easier FOR EVERYONE to make researchs : it seems that the museum is in/near Nagoya.

I have a contact at the Nagoya University, I will send him an e-mail tomorrow to see if he knows something about a museum with Mclarens.

If I have some positive informations should I keep them for me (because the info is not sure at 100%) or should I share them with you ?

Actually, you had posted the address before here.

I overlooked it originally and didn't follow up on it, but went back through that post and decided to do more research.

The museum is called the ZAZ Museum. ZAZ is shortened for Zent Amusement Zone. I was working on securing the owners name before I posted the rest of the info but I guess some people believe there's a conspiracy in my motives so whatever...

50% of the things that I share with this forum come from outside sources - people I either know personally, or find/meet via the web.

I've had some more info from my Japanese source about the F1 that started this thread and about the ZAZ museum

1. The road F1 at Miyaoka is thought to have had a red interior at the time of the picture. No 100% certainty though.

2. Owner of ZAZ museum is called Mr. Tsuzuki. His first name is unclear, since the Japanese signs for that have multiple meanings. Could be Yurio, Michio or other.

3. In 1996, the ZAZ museum had a blue road F1. Most likely not present (any more) in the museum now.

4. Special days in the museum and I quote: "taking digital photos in ZAZ museum is prohibited, but taking analog photos is allowed. And at the special days (several a year), taking digital photos is allowed
and you can listen to the engine sounds of some of the supercars!"

I don't quite understand the analog-yes digital-no rule, but it sure sounds promising ;-)

5. For those interested, there's supposed to be an XJR-15 there too.

6. There has been a GTR in there too, with Lark livery
Here's two pictures:

Would this be 25R? Edit: This is '96 #13R.

25R would be a longtail GTR. That is actually a short tail '96-spec GTR - chassis #13R. It had a twin GTR #14R - and both cars raced in the AJGTC series in 1996. The car in those photos was driven by Naoki Hattori and Ralf Schumacher, and it won the championship that year.

Thanks again for the great info and photos.

No - we've known that the burgundy longtail is there in the museum for quite sometime though, so it wasn't noteworthy.

Reference the full photo of the car there in this post.

Ah, I see. I couldn't tell it was burgundy, and I'd forgotten about the burgundy one. My bad.

No worries at all - even I lose track of them in my mind from time to time.
