Damn dude you're on the wrong side of the country. Over i n California they take mid 90's Subaru Impreza's and put the WRX engine in them. That gives like what 230hp in a lighter car than the WRX. He does the whole swap including all parts for 5k with labor and you don't have to lift a finger except to wright the check. So 5k for the swap and 3-4k for a good Subaru Impreza. They some in 2 door and 4 door. A good selection of body kits and what not for show. Check out the site. http://garagetuning.com/. He's very cool too. Also they are AWD which helps for street racing a bit. You can throw together a bangin show car wit hthe other 13k bra. Hope thisa helps some. Have fun.

Re: I want to get into street raceing

lol IMO I'd rather not drive either of the two mentioned. But yeah I would prefer a focus over a neon any day.

Agreed...

As for 120mph not being fast...it's plenty fast when you can hit it from a dead stop in 11 seconds

Now this thread can go on forever, with everyone saying this car or that car, and naming 20,000 different options there are...my advice to you would be go out and test drive.

Find some v8s, some 6cylinders, and some 4.
Find some Naturally aspired cars, some supercharged, and some turbo
Some smaller, some larger
some RWD, AWD, and FWD

Test drive a bunch and find out what suits you...because with a budget of 20k, there are a couple thousand options you have. Just like the sticky up above says.

Re: I want to get into street raceing

Good advice. I would second the drive a little bit of everything. Lucky bastard... 20k. I only have like 12 to work with. The cooper will be just as fun. IMO there's no reason to ever go over 120 on a road unless... You're going from Vegas to Reno at 1 in the morning when there are absolutely no cars.... man that was fun. And in a Jetta diesel wagon too.

Re: I want to get into street raceing

this isnt really a pure sports car either... but dodge avengers have some really cool body kits out there, and tons of turbo options to. and the suspension is already decent.

Re: I want to get into street raceing

Well....i only got about 2,500 to work with... the 20k you have is plenty.

If i were you id get a slightly used car for 12-13k. Then take the money you have left over and buy all the mods u can. BUT please dont use ur money on any body kits until you have put on plenty of performance upgrades. IMO speed and power are much more important than looks.(espeacially if you want to start racing and not be another dumb ricer with a "cool looking" car and no speed or power) And when you spend atleast 12-13k on a car.....its gonna look fine..there shouldnt be anything wrong with the car's body or you got ripped.

just my opinion

Like it's that hard of a decision!!!! Get an f-body for around 9,000-12,000 then dump the rest in performance parts. Not very hard to get 10s-11s out of that.

everyone has their own opinion. hes got the money, so if he wants a cool looking car then so be it. but it seems that no one has mentioned the fact that cool looking and fast cant always go together. example: body kits and speed dont always mix, same for lowering the car, and other bodywork. I think you will find that performance upgrades are a much better investment than looks. think of it this way: you spend 2,000 on engine mods- you have replaced worn out parts and at the same time upgraded your car. pretty good. spend 2,000 on body mods....you have a nice paint job and body kit. not going to help you when you need your car to last on a trip or start in the winter, etc. catch my drift? you need to weight the values of each option.

yeah but its all a matter of opinion, some guys make their hobby out of doing things to make their car look good just like some guys make their hobby out of making it faster

he said he wanted to get into street racing. what does a good looking car have to do with racing? A body kit *may* help you at speed (more accurately aero kits, body kits do jackshit) but otherwise, they guy with the same car with $2000 in performance mods is gonna be faster than the guy with $2000 in appearance mods. Its supposed to be racing right? Youre supposed to go fast right? Am i missing something?
