Hi,

Wasn't there an F1 in Australia that crashed and owner died along with 3 of his friends?

What was the chassis number of that car? Was it ever repaired?

Any pics of it?

Sorry for asking too much

Re: f1 in Melbourne

No, that wasn't australia. That was in england. The owner was Christopher Dawes.

Here it gets confusing. His car was historic orange and had high mounted mirrors with chassis #071. However, he wasn't driving this car. He was driving a burgundy F1 which was destroyed (aparently the crash scene was horrific). His car has been seen in numerous magazines and was spotted on a trailer in Holland (?) last year. I believe McLaren owns the car now, but thats purely speculation, and its quite unlikely, but thats my opinion. We do not know the chassis # of the car he crashed altho its possible it was 029, assuming that the car wasn't repainted. I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

Re: f1 in Melbourne

chris you're right that a friend of mine told me that he saw an orange mclaren, a normal road car, on a trailer in the east of holland. Apparantly it was towed bij a nissan patrol, and it had white license plates, which would probably make it a german car. He was quite sure iirc that it had high mirrors, but i can not guarantee anything on it all being true or not, but he is a car fanatic as good as I am, so I trust him

Both are clickable for larger versions. More to come, hopefully!

ER
Are there many more pictures of the McLaren with a full load of 3 people? This is the first one I've seen and it really puts it into perspective how small the car really is.

There has only ever been one owned F1 in Australia and that is 009.
If this guy is right it would be an extremely recent purchase.
