I'm another one that just won't get out of bed if I don't have anything to do, and I'll routinely sleep for 9 or 10 hours, if not more. If I get any less than 7 or 8 hrs, I'm a very miserable individual.
I think I'm twice as screwed up though because I work at night, so more often than not bed time for me is 5 or 6 in the morning. My work hours are pretty long sometimes too. The other day I got home and went to sleep about 6ish, somehow managed to sleep until 4pm, which is less than an hour before I had to be back at work. Does that ever suck... If I don't have to be out of bed at a certain time, I never set my alarm clock. It's a convenient rationalization that my body will just wake up whenever I'm rested enough, but I can ALWAYS go back to sleep for a couple more hours even after that happens. It just makes so much sense in that barely awake state that there's nothing I want to do more than go back to sleep. |

Re: Sleeping too long?
isn't it kinda funny how the earths rotation is about the same as most people's body clock. I mean, on some planets, days last months. I guess we got the right planet. How convenient. But me, I still wish days were 36 hours. I can not ever jam enough fun into a 24 hour day with a work schedule, and sleep. That's why I stay up late usually. I just don't want my day to end yet. By the time I'm usually ready to go to bed, it's just a couple hours from when I need to get up. I'd say when I am on a work schedule, I average 4-6 hours of sleep. Then when I get a couple days off, I average about 14-16 hours of sleep. Maybe some strange force will set the earth off its rotation, and our days will change to 36 hours, and the world will change according to that. Im still hangin on to that dream.
Does anybody else ever turn off their alarms in their sleep? I hate when I do that. I make damn sure the alarm is set, and then I wake up an hour and a half late for work and the alarm is not going off. That usually happens when I accidentally switch it to ALARM instead of RADIO... I always turn it to a station with static and put it on full volume because its the loudest. Im a very deep sleeper, the buzzer will NOT wake me up. Sometimes I just incorporate the buzzer into my dreams. But the best alarm I ever had was my Nokia 3190 cell phone. it always woke me up.

i go to sleep around the same time as you (12:30) and i need to wake up 6:30AM for school. I have to go to school, so i just force myself to wake up. I usually fall asleep during 1st period though
. During the weekends or during vacations, i sleep till like 3PM. Unless I have to work.

Re: Sleeping too long?
6-8 hrs is reccomended by sleep experts, it says if u r used 2 10 hrs of sleep, ur body doesnt fall asleep as quick as if u only had 6-8.there is 4 levels of sleep, and the only important one is the deepest sleep, which u can maximize by only sleeping 7 hrs. if u oversleep, its even harder to wake up, and u dont get into that deep sleep. question, do u guys that sleep 2 much do anything during the day?any active things or work? i know that physical work can make u tired at night.my roomate used to sit there and watch tv all day and he would complain about not being able to sleep.

Re: Sleeping too long?
its cause your lazy, i get like that when i dont have class in the summer. I can go to bed at like 12 AM and sleep till 12PM the next day no problem. Just cause its so comfortable. No matter how hard i try to wake up, i cant do it. The thing you have to do is force yourself to get up early for like 2 weeks straigh. No matter how tired you are, then your body will build a new sleep pattern and soon you will wake up early on your own. Like last night i went to be at 2 Am, i got up at 8 AM on my own and felt fine.

Re: Sleeping too long?
No matter what, waking up before 8am for me is miserable. I have such a hard time. I could ge 2 or 12 hours of sleep beforehand. As long as my alarm is set at 8 or so i can get up. But 6:20 kills me EVERY day. I guess i'm just not a morning person.
