Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

Screw up big time today. I'd just finished painting the windows and should just touch them up when I must have touched the clear area of the front window with a finger wich must have been in contact with some thinner or something. Got a nice .5 cm spot of fog on the plastic. Just have to order another piece...bugger

Sad to hear about that, Joel, the decaled body is looking so nice. Have you tried gently sanding and polishing out the fogged area?
If any holes are covered up by decals, take a pin and carefully push through, be gentle and you shouldn't damage anything.
Did you think of cutting down the roof decal and making it smaller?
Could the yellow decals around the rear tail lights be ment to fold over and into the light housing?

Regards the harness, I've only ever seen them like this on 206's, done all my models the same.

Bad luck Joel, that is why I like bikes so much, almost no clear parts
Good luck, I hate when something like that happen.

Yes, I tried it but as I don't get to build very often the time it will comsume to get it back into shape is more expensive than ordering a new part.

Thanks for the tip and the thaught regarding the tail light decals, never thaught of that one actually, could be the case... Roof decal could have gotten the treatment that you mention, if I had taken it slower ;-)

And to Sasa, I know what you mean, I'll stick to bikes after this one...perhaps.

Hi Joel,

With regards the yellow rear decal, maybe it looks odd just now but will probably look okay once the kit is finished and everything else is in place!

Sticky Fingers: Well, let's hope it turnes out like you are saying, but I tell you I'm very sceptic ;-)

Today my builds came to a complete halt as my air brush started to back feed the air up into the paint canister, guess some O-ring burst and as the airbrush is pretty rare I don't know if I can fix some spares... Probably a perfect day to go shop for a new one.

So I'm back!
Started this kit over a year ago so I have to finish it off. Starting to get tired of it actually. Last time I posted I had two problems, screw up the clear window part and blew one or two O-rings in my airbrush. Window problem isn't solved yet but I'll order a new set any day. Airbrush isn't a problem any longer as I purchased a new Iwata Revolution (much upon the recomendations from you guys here at AF) and so far I'm satisfied even though it's a bit different spraying with .5 mm compared to my earlier Rich AB with a .2 mm nozzle....

So what am I babbling about...lets show some progress...
I've finished off the decalling of the front and also attached rivets in the protection plates behind the doors. Couldn't get a sharp image of the latter unfortunately...guess it's hard to capture the red rivets on the red livery.

I also shot two of the under side (as the one I posted earlier was blurry and didn't show the black protective areas) wich now only awaits some serious dust wash (did a HEAVY wash on the tyres to day as well so perhaps I'll have to go harder on the body as well.)

Enjoy
/Joel

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

So I finally got the rivets and the last decals in place on the body. The "feathers" cracked a bit over the rivets as you can see on some of the pics, have to touch that up with some paint before clear coating. I also exchanged the decals around the tail lights as I wasn't too satisfied with them. I guess the new ones aren't perfect but they are much better than the supplied ones. I also changed to a blue background which seams to do the trick on my photo sessions. To bad that means you can now see the orange peal....

Here's a better one than previously posted of the beautiful front section.

To get rid of the ugly gaps in the wheel arches I cut some sheet styrene and painted it with body color. In this pic they are just put in place without glue but I guess you get the idea.

Hope you like it. Next I'll be back with some interior work, harnesses, dash and some other stuff.
best regards
Joel

Thanks for your kind words. I too love these more rare liveries, and I fell for this one first time I saw it. It's my first car kit though and the paintjob isn't flawless, some minor orange peel and I've had some trouble with the decals (Renaissance).
I don't think I'll go for an Impreza...in fact I think I'll stick to my bike kits after finishing this one off. I'm not too familiar with cars and that makes it pretty hard to do it justice. I have a few car kits on the shelf, but as I said, I think they have to stay there for a while
thanks again
best regards
Joel

Re: Progress: 2003 Peugeot 206 WRC Rally of Turkey G/H Panizzi

Oh, sh*t. Yesterday I thaught I had to finish this build and I took out the body shell to rinse it before clear coating. Just putting it under running tap water made it lose 1/3 of all decals. Lucky my I only lost one smaller one down the drain, the rest of them I was able to pick up. So now it is time to get that old Future bottle collecting dust in the closet...

Too bad. :-(
Because that I always put decal solution over decals to fix it more.
