Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

O boy... Please dont get me started with posting sketches, paintings, and graphic manipulated peices

Because I wont stop, haha.

I say just go with an RPS13... Like my first drift car.

Fully primered body, lowered to the ground (it would throw some pretty bad chassis scrape though tight turns... Sparks are sweet) stock engine with intake, gutted interior, doughtnut tires all the way around, and lexan windows.

Thing was so much fun... Until I put her into a wall in mid-drift... But for $350 you cant beat it

Drift cars are only nice, and pretty looking in D1... The fact of drifting is this:

It is quite rough on your car... So keep it cheap, and easy. You dont need to worry about S15 headlights, or JDM this, JDM that, SR20, CA18 blah blah turbo system with HKS BOV, until you get good, and confident enough that you know you wont drop her into a curb... Or wall for that matter

Thats my advice.

Yes, Most of the cars out here are right hand drive , occasionally you find one that someone converted to left hand drive. Heck, you see American cars out here all the time. I always see, corvettes, mustangs, old cadillacs with hydros, trucks, the Japanese love American Spec cars almost as much as we love their cars. As for Silvias.......they can't be imported as far as I know , I know a few people with silvias. My one friend has a Sileighty. He put an S-15 front end on his 180sx.....It's all types of hooked up . Well, my plan if I come back to America soon is to bring back a 240 to Japan(I need to check on the laws first). Then I wanna hook it up with 180sx parts while I'm here , you know conversions and and SR20DET. ohh well........we'll see what happens.

Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

the AE86 trueno and the AE86 levin are basically the same car except headlight styles. they are pretty cheap here in the US (a good one can run you anywhere from 3-5 g's). i happen to own one as a matter of fact . they are great cars, especially for the beginner drifters. they "flip" alot easier than the 240s, 240s are kinda hard to learn on. the AE86's have a near perfect 50/50 weight ratio too. make sure your corolla is rwd though . 85-87 is what you want...150 ponies to the rear wheels stock isnt that bad, considering the GTS' came with a LSD.

you know whats amazing....almost all of my friends with SR20DET's passed emissions with only a new cat. it was in downtown seattle too, so it wasnt one of those places out in the boonies. and for some reason they didnt get a visual on their inspection either. i have a picture of his slip too if you want it. only problem is that here in washington we have a VERY big 240/180/silvia scene. most of the cops in the seattle area know what an sr20 looks like, even if its a black top.

Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

I unno, you drift in Lemans? I know I drift go-karts, so it's plausable. Maybe a 240, but I think the treuno, because of the 50/50 dist. of weight.
