And you went off on all of us for "slamming" your products

I was even thinking about recommending you to one of my relatives who has a new truck. Not anymore. Insulting people is not cool. Even if I don't buy one, I might tell a few people.

Ok, I was trying to avoid this thread for as long as possible... but I simply can not anymore.

Grille-Tech: You are correct, "Also it takes a lot more than you would think to run a business in this day and age." - as a fellow business owner I know that it takes money to make money and theres more to it then opening up an online store and you make millions... There has to be some advertising involved, so now -- why would you goto a forum where people openly talk about an "easy" mod, and expect to get the best results, if any results from it? Example...

Its like me coming in here, and telling you all that I sell plastic COLORED vents for your cars... you pop the old ones out and pop these ones in -- but oh yeah, they cost $50-$70 per car depending on your car. Now please ask yourself, why would someone do this? Again, I am not trying to "flame" you but it just doesnt seem like a correct way to advertise.

To SilverY2k: 90% profit? Hehehe ever taken a math class? If a product costs $10 to make, and someone sells it for $70 -- that is a 600% markup -- not your 90% as you said. That would be something like the $70 grill costing $38.50 -- which if thats the case, Grille-Tech really needs to better spec out their ordering contracts cause thats crappy.

Remember, no one is here to bash your company -- but not many people would find your form of advertising very effective. I for one, can think of a million better ways to spend my advertising dollars to make every $1 count -- how long have you guys been in business? What business experience do you have?

Hello,
I am Ben, an owner of Grille-Tech. I am disappointed in the way that my company has handled itself on this forum and I want to apologize. I understand each and every viewpoint on this Thread and I will try to address your concerns. As for the cost of the grille: Each and every grille is precision Laser Cut out of a solid sheet of perforated Steel. It is then Deburred, Chemically treated, and powder coated. The grille is then inspected for any flaws and then sent to the shipping department where the trim is put on, it is cleaned again and packaged for shipping. The machine the grilles are cut on cost over 1 million dollars by itself, therefore the operation of such machinery is not cheap. There are many unseen costs as well such as the engineering involved in making a template for a vehicle, CAD Programming Costs and So On. As for your home made grilles, Yes they are nice, but they involve a bit of time, ingenuity and some mechanical skills which not all people have. This is why we offer a precut product that requires only a few minutes of work to install. Our goal is to make YOU happy, which has not been done thus far. If you do not like our product, Please let me know How I can change it to make it better. All serious suggestions will be looked at and taken into consideration.
I hope I have eased some of the tension and again I apologize for unprofessional way we have handled ourselves.
Ben

Hey SilverY2KCivic: What kind of materials did you use when you made your grilles? Can u give me some pointers on making one for my Accord? I want my car to have a fresh look but I definately don't wanna spend 100's of bucks. If anyone else has suggestions, please post. I've done other mods on my own but never a grille!

Home made myself. Amazing what a $3 investment and a little bit of time and patience can get you...

taken in front of the Rose Bowl huh?
Anyways, we're you talking about the lower or upper grill. The lower one looks nice. Are the lights behind the mesh? As for the blue "h" in front, how'd you go about doing that? I originally had a red emblem with the two prongs that would normally go in the trunk, but after rubbing it on the pavement for awhile i flatten the back and stuck it in the front where the stock silver one was. It looked nice until my accident. How'd you attach your grill to your bumper?

The REosebowl was all I had while my other spot wasn't accessable for about 6 months, damn fires! Grrr.

Anyways, the one I'm talking about is my LOWER grill, that's the one I custome made my own mesh insert for. All I did was cut out the stock black plastic grille crossmember pieces, and then made a templete outline of the shape of the opening for referance sake. I attached that to a piece of the '4x'8 foot sheet of galvanized concrete lathe I bought at Home Depot for like $2 and some change. Cut out around the templete staying about an inch off the templete cutout so I could trim down from there. Checked everything over once cut, then attached it using thin wire to tie the insert to the bumper (can't even tell how it's attached since I paid great attention to detail to hide it all) and made sure it was all straight. That's all there really is to it. Metal mesh grill insert for about $3 As for my fog lights, they sit BEHIND the grill. Actually they are attached to the cross member piece that is baically the bumper of the car.

The emblem didin't have any prongs to it, just a flat super sticky tape back to it. All I didi was remove my stock emblem, and stick the new one on. Simple as pie. $16.95 for the F&R set from www.procarparts.com As for my upper grill, all I did was take off my bumper and took off the silver body colored ring piece around the actual black plastic cross member piece, and then sprayed it with some silver paint, same stuff I used for my interior and side skirts. I need to touch it up though since the parts I sprayed that lay under the hood are all chipping off from heat under there. But you can't see or notice it unless my hood is up. I like having the grill body color painted rather than having the Si style grill, it's different and unique and looks wise, it fits the car very well that way.
