Well....that's one I've been wanting to do for a long time but it keeps getting pushed back when I get new ideas like this Mustang. But when I do build a Chevelle, here is what I will use:

I knew there was a chevelle in the works somewhere! I really want to see that firebird done. I've been looking for one of those kits (early 70's)forever; you are lucky to even have your hands on one.

Assembled most of the 4.6 Cammer engine from the AMT Phantom Vicky for test fitting in the Mustang engine bay. I used Microscale Krystal Klear for the test assembly.

I reverse engineered the transmission to fit the chassis by removing the tailshaft, blocking off the opening with .010 sheet styrene and adding a small strip to fit the trans mount that is molded into the chassis plate, just like the original kit engine. No "hole thru the oil pan" on the Cammer because I will not be using the metal axle in the front. The shorty headers came from the AMT 1988 Mustang GT and fit like they came with the engine.

The underside will look fine once I scribe around the molded in detail and paint, especially for a shelf model.

This is all for the engine work until the resin teardrop hood arrives from PSF Hobbies. Need to make sure the EFI intake and air filter assembly that is not attached have plenty of room under the hood.

This engine will look "BOSS" under the hood of this pony!!!

Looking good .

You might try making a MII front end on it because mustangs didn`t have them kind of fender wells . But wether you do it or not it will look great.

Here's the rear view of Year One's Mustang, the inspiration for my latest creation. Now take a look at my 1:25 scale version. I used the rear spoiler from an AMT '68 Shelby GT500 for the conversion.


Just a little more body work and it will be in primer.

Sure it's a wire axle chassis, but it needed a little help. Actually, I needed room for the dual exhaust outlets that are yet to be fabricated.

I removed the molded in gas tank and rear muffler and exhaust. The resulting hole in the chassis plate was filled with a patch panel made from the rear floor pan from an AMT '88 Mustang GT. The gas tank was narrowed slightly to make plenty of room. The rear valance pan will be radiused slightly for exhaust clearance.

Compare this pic to the stock chassis from the AMT 1966 Mustang and you will see some improvement. Some will say I should have modified the infinitely more detailed chassis from the modern tool AMT '67 Mustang, but it wouldn't be my style. I like old school models built with new school attitude!!!!
