Re: Gas pedal hard to push

No, you shut the engine off, spray the butterfly and area with carb cleaner and scrub it with a toothbrush then rinse with cleaner again.

You will have to open the butter fly to get the back side and around the edge of the butterfly and the TB body itself.

Re: Gas pedal hard to push

You did not read my post correctly. I said I fixed mine by leaving the engine running and spraying the cleaner in......past tense.

And I am stating that that is not the proper way to properly clean a sticky throttle body butterfly.

Re: Gas pedal hard to push

All the replies you have gotten are correct. The problem is carbon build-up on your fuel throttle. The mechanic shops spray brake cleaner on the throttle fly and wipe it thoroughly. Repeat this process 2 or 3 times to make sure you have removed all build-up. You will have to do this about 1 or 2 times a year being that these vehicles are bad for carbon build-up. This is what I was instructed to do by Goodpastures supervising mechanic in my town.

Re: Gas pedal hard to push

throttle body cleaner, NOT brake cleaner
