or do any of u even know what an eclipse is? if not, it has the same engine, although with less horsepower, than a lancer evo, 2.0L turbo, SOMETHING has to interchange! or do y'all not have enough balls to even try it? IF i had one available here, i would definitely ditch the triptronic and non modifyable 6 cylinder and step up to the plate with a big helping of 4g63t, just my 2 cents. thanks for lettign me vent

It s an idea, and I'm sure someone has done it. But since I don't have an FTO or a 2.0L turbo 4 from Mitsu, so I'm not going to try it

That's one option which has already been done with very good results, but the 4G63T isn't exactely a bolt on fit. I wouldn't call the existing engine, the 6A12G, non-modifiable, my friend turbocharged his FTO GPX for $4000 AUD ($2000 US) with a T3/T4 turbo, and achieved around 210kw at the flywheel, with a tiny 7.5psi of boost (to prevent detonation). The FTO is based on a Galant chassis. Some versions of the Galant came with a twin-turbo version of the 6A12G which has proven to be a more popular engine swap. The tiptronic gearbox is actually quite weak and not meant to be used in Tiptronic mode continuously, I know this because my sister just busted the tiptronic gearbox in her FTO, so simply buying a manual FTO is a much better option if you want to get serious with modifications.

Crackerman, no offense, but FTO owners do have the balls to seriously modify their cars, they just don't have the wallets, and it doesn't really make much sense because it would be much cheaper and easier to buy a different car, for example, an R32 GTR or Supra which you can get for around $10,000 AUD ($5000 US) more than an FTO. By the way, I've heard of the previous model Eclipses and their downtuned 4G63 but isn't the current model Eclipse front wheel drive and V6?

crackerman, yes we do know what eclipse's are... the green car from the fast and the furious, we just dont get them over here (im an auckland boy too).
somone earlier mentioned that FTO's were considered girls cars here (maybe in another thread thou?) and that middle aged women drive them... sad but true, about FTO's being girls cars.. i am trying to convince my girlfriend to buy an fto, but it doesnt mean i dont want one myself, they look sexy black , im just aiming for a mkiv supra TT - about that, i cannot decide what color to get it in... or what decals to get (i want big side ones ) help me! i would get black or silver.. but i want somthing that is realy eye catching, i was thinking lambourgini orange (like the fast and furious car)... but i think that it may seem too cliche with the movie..

Sorry all - well off topic.

Just testing to see if the URL for a pic is working.

Sorry

About transplanting the Eclipse gear in to an FTO, well one of the EVOs (IV i think) shares the same underpinnings, if u swapped engine and drive train you'll have a turbo AWD FTO!! That would be something to scare the WRXs with!

That's a claim that seriously needs a dyno chart posted.

And out-handle a standard Skyline too (not talking GTR, here) - unless you've over-powered it, that is. How does it handle with all that power?
