If I were you, drop the car, put some air bags on it, air suspension, then some big rimz.

After that, you should be set to go.
what color is your ford?

I would say get them, and match up colors. At my last car show, I saw a Dodge Durango, with air bag suspesion, 20"+ rims, Black, shaved handles, and purple underlighting, and it looked MINT.

I got a question for you guys,

If I get a car, and paint it Dark Blue, and white, black, or gun metal color rims, what kind neon color should I use white the matches???

or

If the car was white, and either black, white or gun metal rims, what color underlignting???

thanks
I think will both of your color schemes you can go anyway - I would personally lean toward the blue or red.

HOLD ON BUDDY - you are suggesting dropping a 4x4? Hell no. You jack that baby up six to twelve inches, throw some 33s X 12.5s on it with some Super Swampers, and roll anywhere you want

Ep|c - I've seen some awesome lighting strategies on trucks. What color is your truck?

I've finally figured out the rule of thumb:
If you can see the tube, you are liable and will get ticketed 9 times out of 10.
If you can't see the neon, you can get away with it 9 times out of 10.

Cool Experienced With Neon

I have been making neon for the 12 volt market since around 1987 here in South Carolina and I have had plenty of experience with the pros and cons of neon lighting in and under cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I, too, was pulled for having neon under my lowered Mazda B2000 mini. NEON IS NOT AGAINST THE LAW AS LONG AS THE TUBE IS HIDDEN!!! I was pulled by one cop in front of another cop who would give me thumbs up as I passed every time. They pull you over by preference but do not TRULY know the law. I went to court with my SLED AGENT Father-In-Laws' law book and a letter DIRECTLY FROM THE COMMANDER OF THE DEPT. OF HIGHWAYS which said NEON IS NOT ILLEGAL ON CARS IN S.C.
That, along with the law book stating ANY LIGHTING NOT FROM THE FACTORY CANNOT BE OVER 350,000 CANDLEWATT POWER AND CANNOT SHOW 75 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. We all know neon definately falls under the "LESS THAN THAT" category! And I had BLUE, which basically begs for trouble from Police. We still produce neon heavily to this day for individuals and electronics stores alike. We ARE NOT Street Glow or any of the other 12 volt companies...we are a wholesale neon production plant which caters to the sign industry and provide 12 volt neon as a side service. Also let me add this: I am not slamming anyone but I will say this...I have been told from both the companies we deal with as well as individuals alike that our neon is brighter than the better known companies. We use a dedicated 9000 volt transformer to run the complete kit, not an individual transformer for each tube. The neon we sell to electronics companies actually carry Street Glow but still buy from us so that kind of says something. I'm not throwing a sales pitch but I want people to be aware that if you go Street Glow, buy the high end kit with the dedicated transformer. It WILL BE BRIGHTER. Questions? Ask me...I will help any way possible.

Well that might be the law in SC but I was talking to some cop here in Florida, and he said the law is that you can't have excessive lights on the front of your car which don't come from factory, except for fog lights. He said most cops wont stop you, but then there are always the bitches and the cops that need to meet their quota's...oh well

to the cop that pulled me over :finger:

Unfortunately that's true,as was the case with me and the one that pulled me...If there is any kind of case against neon I can see it being light emitted from the grill area or close to factory lighting, but again, it will just depend on the cop, unfortunately. I had neon under my truck, around my license plate, in my grill, and even in my cab-high camper shell back window which said "Mazda" in cursive, so I was really pushing it...but got off free...hope everyone has good luck with it in the future...I know we won't stop making it!

i think the reason they are hated so much iz becuz the people who do it dont use the advice from the first post of this thread. DO IT RIGHT...
if you get a good color contrast it is very attractive, but if you pick some weird crap that dont match, why waste your time?
