Well...how much you get bugged with a cell phone depends on WHO you give your number out to. I got my first cell phone back in '94 or so. The only people that were really carrying them around even then were either business people or people who had $$. My dad had bought my mom and I one for safety reasons/emergencies. I had to pay the bill on mine but at that time we were paying $8.95/month because we got the account thru his job...so paying was not a problem for me at all. I have to laugh because I remember one time I went to church, and I had the phone in my purse. My mom called to ask me a question. The "Bible-thumpers" of the group looked at me with a scanning eye and started whispering amongst themselves....then one of them went to the pastor and later I got a lecture about showing off and being prideful blah blah blah blah.....I kinda forgot the rest of what he said
 But funny how today you see 12 year-olds skating down the street while talking on their mobile phone. You see people who look like they can't afford a Happy Meal at McDonalds talking on cell phones....you have to ask, "Who doesn't have one these days?"Having one does have it's advantages, however a lot of the phone-toting population does need a lesson or 2 on phone etiquette in public. For example turning it off at the movies. I also hate the ones who have to talk extra loud so that they try to look important to those around them. As for people finding me when I am not home, I have a good group of friends that if they call at anytime, I don't mind. Most of the conversations are pretty short anyway and they just wanna make or confirm plans for a later time. I did have a few not-so nice few friends back in the day that rang the phone like it was the end of the world....ick!

Make sure you get the hands free thingy. I use mine all the time and I think it has help me avoid about 7 Nikki Taylors to date.
True, I look like some idiot having a conversation with himself 80% of the time, but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives.

THe hands-free equipment is so commonplace now, I am sure people can figure out you are on a phone if you are driving and talking...and there are no other people in your car. I wanna get something for mine, but I am thinking of getting a different phone again so I am holding off.

i've had like 5 different cell phones..... i hate it when i have one that lots of people have, so i just get a new one, hehe like to be original
right now i have a Nokia 8890, it's pretty good, lots of features They're really useful, it would be soooooo hard to find people if they didn't have cell phones makes everything so much more convenient here you get kicked out of the theater if your celly is on
