re of what car you were racing though, if it was the newer CRX (del sol) with the B18C swap then sounds about right, but if he actually has one of the sub 2k pound CRX's that are like 800 pounds lighter than your car with your engine in there then he sucks at driving or your good. do you know more about what year it is?

my friend has a 91 CRX Si with intake and headers, and its pretty quick for a non-vtec engine. reason being it only weighs about 2150 hah. ive always told him it looks like a body on a go cart lol
