Poor American engineering led to these huge V8's. They can't get power out of tuning, so they go for displacement. Furthermore, if you check the bhp/liter ratios of "domestics" and "imports," you'll see that imports are superior. Also, big displacement is for insecure guys with small dicks... (back me up on this one import people)!

Under your silly US idea of an Import I am in import owner, however I also happen to like Large dispalcement cars, infact I like most cars. Does that mean I have a small dick? or that I am insecure? Maybe you just dont have the balls to be open minded?

I thought the guy was referring to 300mph not kmph! And if you would read what psman wrote Alex B, you will learn why v8's cant produce the same hp/L as 4 or v6's can! And I have a Huge v8 and an average size dick7"! But were not talking about dicks were talking about cars, so next time instead of talking about something off the subject, why dont you back up your theory with facts. Because all your doing is making yourself look stupid! And if you would like me to take a picture of my dick and post it I will but im afraid that the mods may not like it, and worst you may get off on it!

Haha I wasnt refering to small dicks literally. But usually the people that go for high displacement cars lack something personally for which they try to compensate for with their "macho" cars. I'm not pulling this out of my ass... it's a general psychologic pattern. Furthermore, I dont see how not having aerodynamics and being heavy could be any good. Sure powerful engines are nice but that's just saying that you're a brute... slapping a bunch of heavy-duty parts and guzzling gas is too easy. There's more to performance than just power and brute force.

Furthermore, most of "American" engineering is actually German or from other European/Asian countries. Rockets, nuclear physics, 1/2 of the automotive industrty... That's why we use stuff from companies such as Sony, marvel at German engineering, and praise Asian ingenuity. This is because we've been spoiled with space and resources and haven't really had the need YET for efficiency. Our less fortunate amigos across the oceans are faced with resource problems daily therefore have made more with less... something we should start doing.

So whats wrong with a brute? I could be a single minded guy as well, and say that your a homosexual. Because i was raised in Texas and if you dont have a huge big block or a jacked up 4x4 then you are considered a pussy or a homo! But im not and i do respect foreign cars I just happen to think that you can get more hp out of a big block and it will be alot cheaper. And if your saying that germans and asians are desgining gm and ford and chrysler engines then you are ignerant! And why should we do something if we dont have to, like make more efficient cars, when the time comes and we do need to start making more efficient cars then im sure we will. And im sure the engineering will be alot better as well. Theres nothing like nessecity when it comes to inventions, if we need it we will find a way to make it.

No I'm not saying Germans are designing those engines hehe... But maybe if you did a little research you'd see where the DAIMLER from Daimler-Chrystler came into play.
Yes you do get more power from big blocks and they are "better" when it comes to brute foce. But what makes a car overall "better" is 100% opinionated. No one right answer or way of measuring.

Well how about this, a 1300 HP corvette that still gets 18 MPG and is a daily driver and has NO NOS. I saw this in a a hot rodding mag lately. And Vettes aren't bad at handling either. I am more towards the domestic side because they are cheaper and they still manage to last a damn long time. But I still like imports.

Yea the new C5 and F-bodies are cool, but the older ones did not have the best handling.

Yeah, and that is where domestics have always lacked is in the handling department. But they are getting better.

I was wondering how they got that vette to be street legal! It depends on what kind of suspension you get on older model vettes, Mine sucks ill admit that. But i know that there were a couple of other options. My vette probably gets around 15 mpg mainly because of my big ass cam!

Before you go bashing the effiency of american engines, learn more about how effient the pushrod engines are compared to DOHC. Pushrod has some nice advantages over DOHC, learn them before you go bashing american pushrod engines.
