Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Today I got the body painted. Paint is a pearl white with a layer of ice crystal and covered with 2k clear. Since the car is white I did the panels before the paint but it seems to have disappeared. Anybody have any tips for doing panels lines over 2k?

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Now you're hitting your stride Raees!
Awesome stuff.

I got the interior close. I have yet to start on the dash. Lots of different shades of black with some CF thrown in as well as embossing powder for the carpet.

The alcantera effect on the seats was accomplished by misting the paint from farther back than normal allowing the paint to dry a little bit before it hit the seats to give it that textured look.

I painted some metal transfer prancing horses to get some detail in scale on the seats. Those bitches were prancing all around when I was trying to get them to stick to the seat!

Next is some clear on the body.
Thank you all again!
Andy

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Interior is done.
Different levels of exposure here trying to capture the black.

I put some Alclad Steel in there to break up the black. I like the idea of the steel to help create a somewhat raw/unfinished look for the evil tones I am going for.

As I said in a previous post, the alcantara look on the seats was done by taking some Tamiya flat black lacquer, decanting it, thinning it, and shooting it in light mist sprays from far away to get it to give me some texture.

I did a lot of PE screws, rivets, turned upside down and rightside up for the buttons on the dash.

Thank you all again!
Andy

Thank you! Embossing powder says ZING on the front. My wife picked it up at Hobby Lobby.

So some updates.... I got some clear on the car and managed to burn through the clear. I did this with the California too and fixed it so I am not too worried, but that means more paint and touch up.

I got the front end looking more like a Ferrari again. It was starting to look like a Gallardo to me. I put the 458 'fins' back on the grill and added the cavallino. I was trying to put the cav on there low to make it look aggressive, but it might be too low. I am also going to replace it with what one that is what I call black chrome where I will shoot it with some shiny lacquer and give it a very light misting of Alclad II Chrome.

If you're evil you have red eyes right? so this car gets some red lights up front. Those wheels are just placeholders.....

Here is the real kicker. I got the wheels from shapeways and they accidentally printed both wheels in one. That is the front and back both printed together, so I have to have them printed again.

You can really get a feel for the size of that 23" wheel in this picture.

More updates on the way!!!!!
Thank you all again!
Andy

Hi !

Am really loving what I see. You are a great builder.

About those wheels. Is the rubber part (tires) of the wheels 3D printed also ?
If not , would you share the provenance of those tires ?

And for last, witch software did you used to draw the mag wheels so you can have theme done ?

Thank you in advance,
George

Re: Ferrari 458 - Good vs Evil - dada man and andybmw7272

Thanks George!

The tires are from Pegasus (http://stores.scaledreams.com/-strse-625/23%22-Ultra-low-profile/Detail.bok)

I am using the free version of Google SketchUp for the CAD design.

Thanks again!
Andy
