No, flight attendent's jobs include dealing with people like this. Plenty of people have smoked in the john....... and gotten into trouble, but not made the news. Plenty of people also have made (inappropriate) jokes to airline staff, too, and again, have not made the news.

The only difference here is the air marshalls went nuts because this guy was Arabic. Now, I don't blame the marshalls at all, they did what is expected of them. But is this guy had been American, there would have been no sensationalistic news story.

Man is caught smoking in the toilet and asked what he was doing.
He jokes, "trying to light my shoes" to make light of his minor indescretion.

If Muslims would act civil and show respect for other peoples safety,
