We all feel that way sometimes but my friend one said "if you die and thats it what then? you had nothing you wanted your whole life but if your good and have things you want you still can get to heaven if thats what happens i doubt you gotta suffer your whole life just to get something good later if you even have a later." I think get your S15 but still be a good person and you'll be happy your whole life you allways want more but thats just nature. I really could use a set of JDM one piece headlights now that i think of it. But i'm going work hard save up and get them just to find somthing else its kinda the game of life you know. And start by enjoying spring break!

Materialism isn't about having things...it's more about living to have things. There are people out there who have a ton of material possessions, and if their house burned down tonight, they could brush themselves off and start over again witha humble attitude. Then you have those who have a ton of "toys" and those toys become the focus of their life. The mentality of "my life's better than yours because I have a better car, a faster computer, and more channels on my satellite dish." These are the ones who if all that was taken away from them they would just shrivel up and probably get a ton of ulcers from worrying about how they can replace that stuff ASAP.

It is not wrong to want things. I think we ALL desire to live a little better than where we are currently at. We all want a new car, we all want to be in excellent shape, we all want a big house, I could go on....but its when that becomes your sould\ purpose for living life that causes a problem. I personally have seen too many people who hurt others while on their quest for these goods. They didn't care what it took to get them, put off friends and family matters, etc, just for the sake of going and getting whatever it is that they wanted to so they can snap a pic to post on a message board in their 1,428th "Look what I bought today" thread.

I don't want a new car, or a bigger house - I do want to get the toyota's radiator re-cored, but I don't think that that counts as being materialistic. "Hey man, did you check out my new radiator core?, I just got it yesterday, it's sooo much better than yours."

Well imho there's a little bit of materialism in everyone, just take a look at communism, it's a great system, but there's always someone coming out with more typically more liberties, wealth, and objects than anyone else living under the communistic state, thus leading to civil unrest and the imminent rebellion, the military coup d'etat, to stop a certain dictatorship in order to give life to another reign of corruption....

Also another thing that is among the capitalist society is the expression "keeping up with the Joneses" which means that if Neighbor A gets something (i.e a new automobile) then Neighbors B and C have to get a newer automobile of similar price or greater with more options and features. It always happens throughout American Suburbia.

In conclusion, everybody has a certain kind of materialistic trait even if they deny it. It's to feed out ID otherwise known as the dark side of our being which wants what it wants when it wants it. Our Superego (the good side) tries to keep us from being materialistic, and there is a constant struggle between the ID and the Superego to control the Ego (the conscious self that is visible to everyone)
