Scary thoughts:

When I rented a ps2 and gt3 (yes you hear me) it came with no memory cards (lol), and i played 6hours+ straight every day. I overtime got better and devised strategies how to get better and faster through the game.. its been a very long long time but i remember doing a buncha things.

I tried the license thing but that took too damn long and i was near finished with it all but i just said the hell with it (have to get all golds on all licenses blah). If you have memory card I guess thats the best way but.. considering how long it may take.. might as well just race get an extra car earn extra money.. yes you'll have to do the licenses eventually but.

One time i spent entire evening just with the ae86, i fully i mean FULLY upgraded it to the max.. damn was it fine. I was rocking Of course it costs more money then other cars (it was fully race spec with all the race parts which were like 20,000 or something, clutch, etc.. total beast)

Then I went about with a miata instead of ae86, kept racing getting 1000 on first track, till i had enough for a few upgrades then kept doing that finally got an rx7 and then started upgrading it, then i maxed it out (rx7) and i was raping all the other racers in game :P It was own thats as far as i got when i rented it without memory card.. fully upgraded rx7

gigatron has the right idea... if you EXTREMELY skilled... you can just do the license tests B iB A iA and S... get golds on every one (not to hard for B and iB) and then you just fix your prize cars from the test with your initial starting money. That's what my friend did... damn him starting out with a Dodge viper GTS-R concept

an alternative to the license golds: before starting the Sim mode, beat all the target times in Time Trial races in Arcade mode. There are 10 races, and they give you a particular car for each. I'd say 5 are easy, 3 are medium and 2 are hard, all depending on how well you know each track/car combo.

If you beat all 10 in Arcade Mode, it puts the Panoz GT1 car in your garage in Simulation Mode. Nice car to start with, and you can keep your $18,000. Or, sell the Panoz, and start w/ $518,000.
