The vents, or louvers, are a means to adjust front aerodynamic balance. At a track like Le Mans, minimal drag is the desire. So the short chord single element rear wing, short front splitter are used to achieve that minimal drag figure. Therefore the front louvers aren't necessary as they would shift too much downforce forward (making the car condition towards oversteer) and would contribute to increasing drag.

Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

Is this part (B1) suppose to have the openings? My reference pictures for this part(including the box art for the silver C9) show it to be a solid piece. Or are you going to do something to close up the openings?

That frame can just be seen in the shot below just aft of the engine. It's a machined aluminum frame and the pockets are solid only being thinned (you can see the machining marks), not through-holed.

That's cool. I'm currently working on this car myself and was going to open it up until I looked more closely at the pics. It's actually kinda strange that it is a solid piece, you'd think the holes would be there on the real car to save weight. Great job so far, hope mine looks half as good.

Re: Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9

How hard where these decals to apply. To me it looks like it was kind of okay. Not too many round curves the decals needed to snuggle onto?

The decal job looks very good as I canīt see any lines which donīt align correctly.

Keep it up.

Hey, they are easy to apply, its just big decals with clear decal in between. So the lines are always parallel. And because the car hasnt got hard bends, i consider it an easy decaljob.

And you know before i started the kit i thought it was going to be a hard job of placing the decals

I'm more worried about the photo etch stuff than decals, haven't got any tools for that besides pliers, and I'm working on saving up for a half decent airbrush system.

Got to finish the Mazda before that though.

Great looking chassis. You did a very good job on the shading.
