Re: RB25DET Datsun 240z

Thanks!
Finished the battery itself, just need to wire it. Mocked up the intake manifold, need to modify the throttle body as it's too close to the fender

Re: RB25DET Datsun 240z

Thanks for following!
I added the brake and clutch m/c's and plumbed them. The booster has a hole drilled so I can route the vacuum hose into the intake manifold later.
I will add a little flurescent highlighter to the reservoir caps to make them looked zinc'd, like the 1:1

Re: RB25DET Datsun 240z

Good work on the little ground wire. Thats an important wire too, I remember when that wire broke on my 1:1 240Z, all sorts of funny things start to happen. Whats worse was that it was at night when it did brake.....ah memories.......

keep it up!

Nice work....LOVE'in that battery.
You're well on your way to making a very convincing replica of the 1:1..

Re: RB25DET Datsun 240z

Greg that means alot to me coming from the man with the uber Z build!

I did some work on the turbo.
Mounted/clocked turbine to compressor, added the coolant line:

Then I made a downpipe out of solder, painted it black(coated) and tried to simulate the welding onto the compressor flange:

Finally, I added a little detail I think Rob will be happy with, the wastegate plumbing!

Re: RB25DET Datsun 240z

I'm really enjoying watching this build and find it inspirational. In fact, this build is the main reason I got a 240z for myself...a truly gorgeous car.

One thing I'd like to comment on however is your engine bay. It could just be the lighting in the photos, but your wastegate/turbo plumbing looks to have a bit of a rough finish. In your reference photo, everything looks smoother but things like the two white bottles next to the turbo assembly appear to have flashing/mold lines still on it. Those close-up shots make it quite prominent but further away it looks ok. I just figured since you're detailing the engine bay so much it might be worth considering. Don't mean to "rain on your parade"...
