Re: overhead console

Hi Jrs3800
Neat pictures! That's the one i'm working on.What kind of vehicule is this?My cluster does'nt look like that.Altough it's very dim,you can tell a "var" and a "ice" in there.Does the "ice" comes on at or near the freezing point? I dont suppose you ever saw that coming on in Florida!Does it compute fuel economy,'cause looks like a wire goes to the vss

Re: overhead console

From what I understand it does not do Fuel Calculations.. Not sure if the olds uses the same unit... Some of the Olds products from that era did all of the calculations..

But what you have with the roof console is the Compass / Temp

Yes I have seen the display show ICE one time... It actually got down to 21F here and there was Ice... I had never heard my green grass that crunchy..LOL

Also those Pics are from my 1995 Pontiac Transport... Loaded with the exception of Sunroof and no leather..

Re: overhead console

" CAL " Stands for Calibrate... That Pic was before I really started driving it... After a few circles the Compass was happy again

When it says CAL or Calibrate you drive in circles in an open area so that the Compass can find true North

Did not know that. Was it in the owner's manual?

Re: overhead console

Yes its in the Manual..

According to the manual the compass is self calibrating... But says that when the Transport is new the compass may function erratically... If it does CAL will appear on the display.. Correction is to drive in a complete circle 3 times, then the compass will function normally..

Manual says VAR is Variance... Its the difference between magnetic north and geographic north.. So if VAR comes up you will need to select what zone you are in... I may need to do that one...lol... VAR has not appeared on mine but I think its off...lol
