Re: Toyota Gt-One

Body cleared... the clear is only there to help the decals stick better, so this clear coat wont be polished. After the decals are applied, the final clear coat will be applied and polished.

Pics:

Small orange peel, but again, final clear will resolve this :

Tomorrow decals... The most fun part of a build...

Greetz and enjoy

Re: Toyota Gt-One

Hello Jurgen
This build is going very well for you. I would like to know what brand of paint you are using for Red, White and clear? I also like when it's time to put the decals on. It can be the most fun although sometimes it makes you want to pull your hair out.

Hey KorkyOtt, thanks, i'm using zero paints... for this build i'm using brilliant white and ferrari red. The clear is also from zero paints, the pre-thinned clear. Both these and other zero colours can be ordered from hiroboy's site.

Re: Toyota Gt-One

Looks great. One of my all time favourite race cars.

Small question, should the white area continue little higher and look like a triangle? Seems that you have cutted the corner away

I dont know if there have been differencies in liveries, but in this image white on front looks like a triangle.

Re: Toyota Gt-One

yes you're rigt..it should be a triangle. I guess Tamiya did the cover artwork so it doesn't look to Marlboro'ish !?!

Tamiya's instructions say only to use the large template ,kit is supplied with 2 extra triangle templates. (airscoop + nose) But i didn't found where to use them in the instructions. Normaly its for marlboro adds, but because it has never driven with these adds, tamiya says not to use them...

From the picture above it looks like they should go on the wing end plates.

Re: Toyota Gt-One

if you want to build a model that looks like the real thing forget the instructions and get yourself some decent pictures of the car.

Following the pic above they'll should... But if you look on the boxart on the first page, the triangles are rectangular on the wing end plates. And tamiya supplied decals for the wing end plates... So they are for the airscoop and nose. But i'm building for fun and its not a big deal to me if its not 100% like the real thing Btw thanks for the comments!

Re: Toyota Gt-One

Decals are on, normally there should be 2 japan logos on the rear above the esso add. But the previous owner did some strange things to the decals, you can see it a bit on the first pics of the topic.. There seems to be spilled something agressive on the decal, it has a black line in it.

Pics:

Tomorrow final clear.

Thanks for the comment... It's not a competition to be the best, just if you enjoy building, you can go a long way. I'm sure that if i build this kit a few years later that it will be much better than now... It just a matter of practising and learning from you re mistakes.. So dont let me hold you down to start this kit
