Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

Very nice work.
Tamiya sprays are so inconsistent!
Sorry to see the troubles your having.

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

Looks good!

On the spotting, I don't think it is limited to the TS-13 - I had a similar issue with Zero 1K clear on a recent F1 build. In my case, it was over a decal - and it was only in one place on the whole car. This was 1/12 scale, and it was on the engine cover, so a lot of real estate was unaffected, which to me rules out an issue with the paint itself or the environment when I sprayed it. I put it down to not washing the part thoroughly enough before applying the clear - assuming it was Micro Set/Sol residue that fouled it up.

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

I got an answer from my friend.
It was probably because of applying too much clearcoat (and it could be as I apply heavycoat mainly on the sides becouse there were more decals)

So next time no heavycoats with clearcoats!

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

That could explain mine as well . . . . . I'll have to be more careful on the next one!

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

Well, so I've done the inside of the body. However when taking down the masking tape I accidentaly took some decals. Only minor damage. The sides on Rothmans logo went off becouse I cut them (as I wanted to do black panel lines) and the masking tape stick to the edge of the decal. Dunlop logo went off becouse the clearcoat layer there was too thick. I have it on all my cars because I forgot to paint these corners

But it will looked like damaged during the race

Also painted the side window as in real. Need to polish to have nice line though.

How to spend less on coloring the body

And the wip cockpit. The wire is 0,2mm and the ending is just rolled bare metal foil I will add seatbelts and do the rest tomorrow. (You can se the unweathered front wheel too)

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

Very nice progress. Maybe you could use a little white and a brush to 'fill' in some of the damaged areas of decal....?? Just a thought as they are not too bad anyway and do look like they were chipped off during the race.
Nice progress anyway I really like the way the build is progressing.

Re: Rothmans Porsche 962C (Revell)

So I've sanded the decals and polished the body. On those thin Cartograf decals I got some dust below them and after the sanding it makes those little holes (number marking on the side)
I reworked the Rothmans logo with white colour but after the sanindg I noticed that I damaged the letter "m" in Rothmans. omg

Mock up

Notice the damaged "m" letter

The number looks funny

Interior

Washed panel lines, I didn't want to make them darker becouse I was afraided that it will look toyish

shame what happened with the spray, but now this is the perfect time to weather a kit, you can never be wrong when weathering a race car
