As far as I know, the rx8 is set up in a mild peripheral style also.
i was under the impression peripheral ports and side ports are very different.

Yes.
I just looked up on the rx8, it uses both exhaust and intake side ports.
So where the intake is in a normal 13B the exhaust is too now. I was thinking it was the other way around. Both where the exhaust port is.

But anyway, the most power you're gonna pull from an n/a and still pass cali emissions is maybe 200.

Sorry.

i agree with steel for the most part. don't listen to all of the porting talk because once you modify the ports, you are already going to fail emissions testing.

Would rev to 11 or 12,000rpm tho. =)
we have one here in Los Angeles, in a RX2, the tach we use stops at 13,000 rpm but the motor keeps going, it does a consistant 12.10 on the 1/4 mile and it is daily driven, ohh yeah.........

Not totally true, at the shop we use here in Los Angeles, we bang out 330 horsepower to the wheels on 3rd gen RX7 with a completely stock everything at 8pounds of boost, and pass smog no problem.
The reason why, is because the ports are CNC machined, no dremel or die grinders used.

where the heck did u get that 9k limit.
my 12a on my 85 has a massive streetport with a retuned stock carb, stock exhaust manifold into a 2.5inch straight pipe with a magnaflow muffler and i pull power all the way to 10,500rpm's and thats with mostly stock internals.
it pulls off a 13.98 on the 1/4

The standard intake that u normally port to make bigger is totally filled up and is replaced peripherally where the exhaust port is. U cannot compare a 13B turbo as the ports are in completely different spots. DO U UNDERSTAND!!!!

A turbo engine is never gonna rev that high, thats why URS COULD NOT DO IT!!!!

Please dont comment if u dont know what ur talking about.
Good statement!

With the right mods rotaries are good for 12k+ easy. As for Soul's car...it's a turbo car not N/A (although N/A is still better to me ). His car is beastly though. You can find his car here...

http://velocity.isfaster.com/new/rides/soul/main.htm

Unfortunately though his car is now dead :-\

peripheral engines make anywhere from 300 to 400 hp . all the depends on your engine setup. type of fuel injection or carburator?
