Oddly enough...

Between YouTube, watching local highway races, and lurking around twin turbo LSx and Supra forums...

I don't really think the 'Busa is really all that threatening.

Re: The project begins....

Considering they run low tens. I saw one on the bottle run a 9.4 or something like that. That sounds pretty threatening to me, unless where you live the average car runs 9s

I'm talking more about highway races. And while the average car, no, won't run 10s or nines, last time I went out to Ennis, they had cars that weren't trailored in running 8s and driving off, and a TT LSx Camaro go to a low seven, and then leave under its own power.

Re: The project begins....

christ... that thing has to get 3 mpg... and yeah highway races dont go so well for the busa... or most bikes for that matter. But that isnt what they are built for anyways.

That is not exactly my idea of a DD... something with 600+ hp and a parachute strapped to the back.

Actually, I think it got more like 3 gallons to the mile...there was another one there with a turbo, that, I'm not shitting you, was bigger physically than my motor. Precision 116mm...

Re: The project begins....

I just love the damn things. Yeah they are the Corvette of bikes, where EVERYONE thinks they are amazing. But maybe that just means its a great machine?

I do agree that they are a bit overhyped, they have built up a crazy reputation that no bike can ever hope to live up to, not even the Busa.

But when you see a bike run a 9 on one wheel shooting flames every time it shifts is very persuasive.

Re: The project begins....

hey wait a min, the vette can handle now, u just dont wanna mash the gas coming out of the turn or u'll go slideways and around if you're not a good enough driver. that car is one that tends to be better than the driver

Re: The project begins....

The reason every went ape shit over the 'Busa was because of the damned near but not quite Supercar performance for 10k. But it really is the 'Vette of bikes, simply because it was lightweight (well, all things considered) with a ton of power.

Still, I think they are overrated. I've seen more videos of Turbo'd LSx's, Poopras, 911 Turbos, Skylines, BMW M3s and M5s (you gotta look but they are out there), some FDs, Evos, and Cobras whuping the piss outa bikes from a roll, and a good number from a dig as well. Busa's are cool in name, but in practice, I think they have been overhyped so much they have lost some of the luster. Ugly as all sin, too...

Now here's a sexy bike:

Re: The project begins....

I agree on the overrated part. And that IS a sexy bike.

But its all for nothing unless you throw a Viper engine in it...

Re: The project begins....

You need to post a picture of the turbo that can eat your motor..

No matter how hard I try I cant make that image in my head. It just seems impossible for something like that to spool before 17,000 rpms :/

Yep, and a flashback to my 3000GT. As it was said, an engine lift is used to test the tensil strength of everything you have forgotten to disconnect.
