20 ft-lbs more than the VQ??? What planet are you from? try 5 ft-lbs.

VQ Specs:
190 hp @ 5600rpm
205 ft-lbs @ 4000rpm
about 3000lbs curb weight

Volvo:
197hp @ 6000rpm
210 ft-lbs @ 1800rpm (damn!)
about 3700lbs Curb weight.

According to Edmunds.

Wow, that tq comes on a lot earlier than the VQ. However, an extra Quarter ton + doesn't do it any good. Also, having to route all that power through 4 wheels takes a higher percentage of that power and turs it into crap through the driveline. Volvo has some respectable specs. I still think the Max could pull out a bit faster, but it would be quite a race. My prediction would be the Volvo pulling out ahead at first, but then The max would catch up and hopefully be able to run out the redline a couple times and beat the Volvo. But then again, it looks like the Volvo could take on the Max, if not give it a run for the money.

All that power put down by an AWD system.

That car might very well beat a stock 4th gen Max. It's torque comes on way before the VQ kicks in, plus it's 20 ft/lbs more then the VQ. Should be a very interesting race.

You better be carefull, you may get your a$$ handed to you. Then see who laughs for a few hours......
I'm a 5th gen 255 horse Max with a y-pipe,WAI, and exhaust. I don't think so...

Xc70 Vs a 4th gen max? Id say it would be a close race. The awd would definitely give the volvo a launching advantage, combined with the early torque.

However, I wouldnt call the guy in the volvo an idiot. No offense, but in this thread some of you max owners are coming off as riceboys. Calling the loser an idiot, acting like your ride is the sh*t...

Dude your driving a family sedan. Rims + tint != fast. Anyone with a semi-fast car (like the SI) would assume they could beat you.

you can easily beat the shit out of any slovic out there, without even trying btw, and still have the groceries.
A late model SI would fuck his shit right up.

Late model SI? If I understood you correctly, you are saying that Late Model SI will own 4th Gen Maxima. Hmmm with these specs?
The latest model 2003 Honda Civic SI:
Engine Type: In-Line 4-Cylinder
Engine Block/Cylinder Head: Aluminum-Alloy
Displacement (cc): 1998
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net): 160 @ 6500
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm): 132 @ 5000
Redline (rpm): 6800
Bore and Stroke (mm): 86 x 86
Compression Ratio: 9.8:1
Valve Train: 16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC®

------------VS-------------
95-99 Nissan Maxima
190HP with 205 lbs of tourque?

I know that civic is lighter but still maxima will own it.

I drive a 240sx. Its heavier and has less horsepower than the latest SI (I was actually referring to the 99-01 Si in my previous reply). But my car will take my moms car in a straight line easily (mom drives a '96 I30).

Car and Driver magazine:

0-60 time for a STOCK 1998 S70 T5 5 Speed in 6.1 secs and 14.6 in the quartermile.

My previous post was wrong about the VQ torque, I thought it was 190/190 woops.. sorry we all make mistakes.

But you'd better watch out for the T5 5 Speed Volvo, it will destroy a 4th gen Maxima and play very nicely with a 5th gen too.

I'm sure a 5th Gen will rape an S70 and make it call it "daddy". 255 Hp blows away 197hp.

In 98, both teh V70 and S70 were offered with optional 240hp turbo engines w/ a 5speed and awd.

Just setting the facts straight...
