Re: My MKV WIP

I was worried you'd used the wheels as they come out of the box and put the wide ones on the back of a FWD car. It looks good so far. Are you going to tone down the aluminium coloured parts on the underside of the chassis?

Also, is your test spray body from the AMT GT90 kit? Would you be able to PM me some more photos of the body and the rest of the kit?

Re: My MKV WIP

It is a "staggered" set of wheels, that's the look I was after.(though they are trimmed dow to the same width) No, no plans to tone down the aluminum heat shields, (they aren't that bright in person, it's the lighting from the camera.) I do plan on re-painting the exhaust so it stands out more against the shields.
Yes,The test spray body is AMT's Ford GT90 concept snapfast kit.

I've got a couple more shots of the body but it's a simplified snap kit so very littel detail. (I can get some more shots of it when I get home from work if you want...

Re: My MKV WIP

Damn, I'm moving slow on this build. Thought I had the ride-height set but it's not even so I've spent too many hours
trying to get it right, so I've taken a break and moved on to the interior.

I still have to re-mask everything and paint the black areas, also plan on bare-metal foil on the trim peices as well as a black-wash on the seats to add some depth. I'm not totally sold on the Racing seats as they are narrow for the interior tub. Let me know what you think.

Re: My MKV WIP

I haven't posted in awhile. (Haven't mad any porgess.) Here a some up-dates

Layed down the 1st layer of paint today. I'll let it dry for a week or two before color sanding and sparying another layer+clear. That'll give me time to decide if I really like the color. (A bit darker than I'd wanted.) In the mean time I'll spray the window trim, grill peices and finish the head/tail lights...Let me what you think about the color...

Re: My MKV WIP

Well, I haven't posted any updates in a while.

I've since, sprayed a lighter grey, felt the details got lost w/the darker grey

I also picked up Tamiya's Master weathering kit and detailed the exhaust a litte.

I hope to get a final coat on the body this weekend.

Re: My MKV WIP

Finally chose a color, Tamiya light gunmetal. Final coat is on.

Here's a quick moch-up. I want to wait a couple days to spary clear before I finish the rest of the trim that'll be black. I'm not sure if I want to do the center of the wheels black, I'll decide on that once the rest is done.
