Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

Yeah, for some reason they didnt drop the L67 in the Monte until 04...Dont make much sense since they have been putting them in the Grand Prix since 97...

I'm not all that surprised. I raced a friend of mine who had a n/a SS Monte Carlo and and waxed him, and my car is not really all that fast anyway.

+1 I did too a couple years ago in the stealth. Well he actually blew by me and i followed suit. He was about 4 or 5 cars up with more momentum, and i pulled from 40ish to 105 and lessened the gap to about a car then he let off to turn. I did have 5 people (including myself) and 4 backpacks in the car, but i caught him lol.

Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

I don't know what is up with your friend but I own a 2002 monte carlo ss 3.8 n/a and I know that it isn't the greatest or fastest car but I have taken down many civics, focus, altima, and old tiburons. Maybe your friend doesnt know how to drive but ask him if he hit the traction button because my car takes off faster with the trac control on.

Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

Does traction control really come into play at half minute 1/4's? Either way, my neighbor has an old tiburon and flies down the street at WOT every fucking morning at like 9 am, going 50. Most annoying thing ever.

Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

I don't know about the times but I do know that there is a difference between the trac control on/off. I raced a newer Altima with trac off and lost. Then again with it on and won.

Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

Either way, I do not understand how GM can seriously call a 3.8L 3400lb car with 200 hp an SS.

Re: 2003 ford focus zts vs 2002 monte carlo ss (automatic)

I agree... but still its not that bad of a car. Its no Camero SS or Roush Mustang, but I never thought it was going to be either. It successfully accomplishes what Chevy's and Fords are great for though.... crushing rice burners who think thier little cars are the greatest on the road.

No need to type in bold we can read what you are typing. I agree, I don't know why they would call that a SS. It is a marketing idea I am sure.
