Yeah, I'd like to get the lid... near the top of the list of additions to come!

Remember, all turbo kits started life as a custom fabbed kit at some point...
I really don't know any great shops that know their mr2's around here... I can always scour the forums, but, like I said in my last post, I'm prolly going to hold off on the turbo for now. *sigh*

I really like the Tenzo-R's I have now... they feel great, even over longer periods of time. Unfortunately, they are starting to fade

I've heard of bigger sizes fitting without cutting, but it really depends on the speaker. A sub in a custom enclosure behind the seat would be nice, and really fill it out.
Right now I have a sweet touch-screen plate for my stereo, but the speakers are stock. Again, the sound system is on the list, but a little farther down...

YES! This mod is actually the next thing I'd like to do... I've been looking around for good prices. Definitely my favorite headlight set-up. Even though flush-mounts are cool, I think they take away a key element the flip-ups have.

This would be number 2 on the list of things to do to my '2. I've really played with the idea of leaving the tail the way it is... to give credit to it's "91-ness"...

I do like carbon fiber. But, I think I'm going to leave CF off of my mr2... to really pull it off, I'd have to get the hood, light-covers, engine cover, air-scoops and spoiler... all of which I like in red

Plus, I think the red fits better with the stickers (which I didn't put on there, by the way)... CF just might put things a little too over the top.

As for the spoiler, it's going to have to take a spot on the back burner. I do like the current 3-piece anyway.

I really appreciate you taking some time to analyze my ride! You've at least confirmed a lot about what I'd like to improve, and suggested a couple of things I hadn't really put much thought into (like the sound system).

In addition to what we've touched on, I'd also like to space out the back wheels about 20-25mm each to help fill up the wells.

No problem!! You are very welcome! I am always glad I to help

What kind of head unit is it? Those touch screen ones are nice. If you can add GPS to it, I recommend it. Even if you don't need it, it's fun and nice to have it. I have a GPS touch-screen HU on my show car, and I love it!! My MR2 stereo got sounded 100 times better after installing new speakers. I put in some older infinity reference I had laying around. They were basically brand new though. The 6.5" was 2 years ago or so model wise, and the 4" was last years, but it really helped the sound a ton. My OEM speakers where pathetic, and the size of my OEM speakers was a joke. 4" front and 2" rear...yikes...so those had to go. Even if you don't wanna do subs and amps for awhile, I'd look into speakers. Crutchfield has a crazy deal on last years infinity 4" speakers right now...$29.99 + shipping (which would run about $7 to oregon). They had a craxy price on the 6012i too, but they are sold out now.
Infinity Reference 4012i

Look around, I just thought I'd point that out, since the price is crazy low right now.

As for the seats fading, obviously...UV rays can take there toll over time. Less UV resistant fabric will obviously fade quicker. However, try tinting the windows. Even 35% tint on everything will cut out much of the UV light (90 something percent). I'd tint the T-tops too, but I'd tint them darker, since it's perfectly legal to do so to those. That should really help cut out UV light. The big place it will slip through is the windshield. Some places will tint the windshield, though it's generally illegal to tint a windshield aftermarket. If it comes tinted from the factory that's a different story. I wouldn't tint darker than 70% on the windshield if you decide to (60% if you push it). If you tint the windshield 70% or so, I'd stay with 35% on the sides and rear so I don't tip off the authorities.

Speaking of coming that way...when the Windshield on my Civic cracked, I bought a Pilkington windshield and had it installed. I paid for it myself, and it only costed me maybe $175. Anyways, Pilkington and PPG are 2 of the top aftermarket windshield brands, a lot of OEM's use them. What does this have to do with tint? The Pilkington windhshield I put on my civic came tinted from there factory A nice suprise. I have no idea what the case is with the MR2, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Either way, cutting out UV rays should help slow the fade of the seats, and that's exactly what tinting the windows will do...cut out UV rays.

Spacing out the rear wheels, that's not a bad idea. A nice, flush, full wheel well always looks better than "you sunk my battleship."

I also agree on the CF...I kind of thought it would look about of place unless you did the hood, engine lid, spoilers, etc...but I thought I'd through a few things out there anyways. Besides, you already have a nice engine lid, so why waste it

Also, I just found an online dyno chart of a guy who has a 5sfe with a turbo on it, and it has his mods listed. The Dyno run was on 4/12/2003 @ 1:23pm @ 7psi. The Max HP was 179.9hp @ 5000rpm. The max torque was 206.5 lb-ft @4000 rpm.

The listed mods where as follows: Turboed 5sfe, CT26, 3SGTE Exhaust Manifold, IC, IC Fan, LICP w/ BOV, custom 3" Downpipe, Custom 2.5" Dual outlet exhaust, custom intake w/ filter, custom UICP, ERL MF2 AIC w/ 2 additional 440cc injectors, MSD6-BTM Ignition, NGK BKR7E Plugs, stock internals and compression.

I don't know if this helps, and I don't know much about this car beyond this, but I thought I'd post it...

Re: New Member, looking to turbo my 5S-FE...

So, here's an update from the forums into which I've been delving to get some 5sfte answers:

Basically, we're looking for a small to modest turbo setup for the 5sfe. That means less than 2.5k, with a goal of 170ish whp. Also, we'd like to protect the longevity of the engine as much as possible. SO, lower boost.

We're not looking to pull crazy hp from the 5sfe - turned 5sfte; I'm sure with the right amount of cash, it can be done. We're looking to put a little more pep into our '2s. Kinda like the guy eckoman_pdx referred to ^^

Seriously, good luck with this project!! Keep us all updated please! Once you get it done, would you be kind enough to post info on what you did, what parts you used, how you did it, dyno and psi numbers, etc? It would make for good reference here!

Of course, when I do eventually start working on it, I will post progress.

And, if if ever gets done, I can post final results...

...still need help coming up with a complete list of parts/prices/places to get them and good places to get work done...

Well, which parts/ideas are you wanting to do? I can post up what I know if you post up specifically what you are looking to do and what parts you are looking for?

Post up for reference what you KNOW you want to do, and we can help you come up with a complete list of parts/prices/places to get the work done, etc.
