Dirk... i suggest if you want to stay on this site, get a little fact in your thick head. People who drive Ford... etc ... are not going to let you completely blast our brand names like that. We baught our cars for a reason, we like them and have pride in them, and enjoy their performance, just like the way you feel about your Honda. If you have a problem with that and wanna try and prove something, you could just race us. :smoka:

Smile Thank you

To all the Moderators...I thank you for taking notice and action...I know that he only represents himself and not Honda owners, I think that it is a sad truth that a car owner can be such narrow minded fool.

Back to the topic, a question.

Was he running high octane or not? I thought higher octane was supposed to avoid the premature e-detonation and major engine melt down, right?

More isn't always better! If your running a pretty much stock car or even some light mods then there is NO need to run high octane. To get the best performance you need the quick burn. You should run the lowest grade octane possible without detonation, to achieve the quickest burn possible. If you worried about fuel economy then higher octane is better, cause the burn rate is slower. When you hear about people burning pistons and melting engine's, its usually on nitrous/supercharged applications, or cars with really high compression.

my previous hb civic was using premium b/c that was what the previous owner used....so i followed suit.....when i got another civic hb i again was about to use premium, but a friend of mine who had the same car warned me that premium gas would mess up my engine....didn't give a really good explanition though

What octane should you use for 10:1 compression? I thought that 89 octane left a lot of carbon build up on the intake valves, that's what I have been told.

my motor has 10:1 compression, an 92 octane is the best i can get for it. i'd say stay above that an u'll be fine.

an...from honda driver to ford drivers...sigh...this is why ppl hate import drivers an its weak. apologies from OUR scene.

It's not import drivers so much that are hated, it's ricers. Ricers buy an import, put stickers all over it, usually of hardware they do NOT have, lower the suspension, put big wheels on it, (pimp it out) and think they are the king daemons of the road.

I dislike ricers mainly because they are deluded tools who believe their car is the best thing on the road, when there are larger cars that get better performance from less highly strung (or hard pushed) mechanical components. Another reason I don't like rice is because those massive exhaust tips look and sound very embarressing.

I agree with 666<(wonder what that stands for, haha) I do believe it is those riced out types that set everyone against imports in general but in reality they realize that they don't really hate all imports, just those one's that are like that, that gives us (import owners) a bad name.
