nigga and nigger are the same thing, i think there both derogatory, and the black people at my school can call eachother niggers, but when some one from a different color or cred says it then they get offended. i dont call my friends crackers or spics.

I used the term first. It wasn't to turn it into a debate about a single term. But, I was stressing that words have meanings. Swearing isn't just using words that people shouldn't get uptight about. I mentioned nigger because its not even considered a swear word but you can see how it inflames people.

Why not? If its cool with there own race, then let it be. I bet other races would get pissed if a black person comes at them like-- What up Spic or What up Wetback or What up Cracker? Those people would get pissed too. I say it all day to my homeboys or people who I know is cool with it. I'm not gonna go up to the Pastor of my church and say What up Nigga. Because thats not someone I'm cool with like that. I'm black by the way and anybody of another race that comes to you with some racial Bullshit is looking for a beat-down. Anybody of any race would feel the same. Its cool for people to say certain things about there race to there race if that race is cool with it.

and with the "Nigga" and Nigger" thing....i can't even stand it when black people use the word no matter how it sounds and I'm black as well.... it's a word of ignorance and i can't stand ignorance...just one of those things...but i mean i get dirty looks sometimes for just saying balls or something......go figure

Hey dog, I can respect that. The thing is I use it with people I knew for like 8 years or more or my cousins because I know and they know that we don't mean shit by it. I'll never use the word with elders and a place of business though

To tell you the truth- people who swear come across as unsofiisticated and I generally give them less of my time- I just can't stand swearing and only resort to it if all other means of communication had failed

Personally, I don't think those words should be said if your not black. However, if a black person knows the white guy saying it and he knows its a friend I don't think its a big deal. I have had black friends(by the way I'm caucasion)friends all my life and I have said the word nigga when I would talk to them and they knew I was saying it b/c I was cool with them. Others may think differently of this than I do, but this is my opinion.

In my view, there is a lot of difference between a nigger and a black person. Tonio seems to be a decent black man...is he a nigger?? hell no. I just wonder how this thread got onto the subject.

I actually just went back and read the whole thread and thought I'd speak on this. 94MustangGT I totally agree, and I will give my reasoning for this from a few events out of my life. My example is my freshman year me and two of my friends were walking home from school and a car full of black people(guys and girls) drove by and pulled over and this guy jumped out of the car asking us if we would jump him. He said he needed us to jump him so he could get in a gang and we just kept walking not saying anything, then he went to my other friend who was the biggest guy out of us, and keeps telling him "come on hit me hit me, I ain't gonna do nothing". And then the guy starts telling the people in the car "should I hit him, should I", with his friends saying get in the car and leave them kids alone. And then for no reason he turned and punched my friend in the nose and blood went everywhere, we had to call an ambulance b/c it wouldn't stop bleeding. I think this guy is a blank .

Now that is true, I know it sounds ignorant but that shit is true. I had an Armenian friend that was cool as hell and he said it to me all the time, but we had that connection like that and I knew him since we were like 11 years old. Anybody I don't know would get Fu#@ed up though

That's fucked up about your friend and all but that could have been anybody or any race in the car and that shit is unfortunate. What did your friend do back?
