it is true that villiger and quest are same basic minivans but nissan testing after build is much better therefore when van gets to market it is much less likely to have problems

Interesting.

Hudson, I have no knowledge to refute your statement, but it does seem odd that Ford would choose to use a Nissan motor in their Mercury vehicle and not in their Ford. Of course, I never knew that Nissan had ANY relationship with Ford but it seems i'm the only one without this knowledge.

And yes, I agree that Nissan does know how to make a much better V6 motor. The VQ is the highest rated motor used in most of the Nissan family's high end vehicles (Altima, Maxima, I30, I35, 300ZX, 350Z).

DNE:

Ford worked with Nissan on no fewer than two programs. The VX54/VX149 (Villager/Quest) and the UX70 (Terrano II/Maverick). The partnership never seemed to progress very far and probably ended when Renault stepped into the picture.

As for the VQ engine, it is a great powerplant but was it really offered in the 300ZX?

oops... i lied... it's a VG not VQ

RWD VG30DE & VG30DETT

But that's yet ANOTHER beautiful V6 which was also used in the Maxima and I30 and other 3.0L V6 Nissan vehicles, except they were FWD.
