Also why I'm building an LS block for the future of my car, but comparing the two motors stock (if you want to go fast) the B16 is better, and I believe its a better platform for cheap realiable power.

One of my friends said that a b16b would be better for turbo because it has good torque and no vtec. He sais vtec makes the turbo work harder. Is this true and if it is how can i correct it with my motor of choice, the b16.

Or you could get the B18a with equal amounts of torues anf HP (about 130 HP and torque vs. b16a's 160 Hp) I would go with the B16a becuase than you could put a VTEC sticker on your car. LOL
Do I HAVE to start correcting people on how power is a product of torque x RPM AGAIN!!!!!! What a stupid fucking comment to make

Torque means fuck all if your car cant rev out and if you REALLY want to get into the nitty-gritty, the B16A has one of the most linear torque-curves of a NA engine.

Personally I'd go the B18 VTEC over either engine instead of LSVTEC, simply on cost and reliability. If I was going to dick around with frankenstein it'd be using a B20 block with everything else forged for reliability.

B16A and NOT for the sticker.

oh god setanta and his torque rant, dude thats the only way i know you, i always remember your rants about horspower is product of torque, blah blah blah funny as hell

anywho no one answered the question on page 1 about what if you have LS engine (b18B mind you, thats what i have waiting to be transplanted) with a b16 tranny, would top end power thats b18 lacks be any better? if not what can i do to improve its top end, i was thinking about putting in pistons and rods before i put it in to do a basic build up of the bottom end, will that help my top end power?????????????????????

Well, I know the B20 is better than the B18. But, I repeatadly beat B16's with some pretty heavy mods, until the top of fourth gear, and 100+ mph. So, basically I beat them.

A tranny will do absolutly nothing for how much power your motor produces.

You can read here on how different gearings work. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/transmission.htm

Or least you used to be able to.

Its not gonna make a big difference but yeh it'll feel faster but not really. IF you want to improve top end. I'd get p&p head with upgraded cams , springs, the whole valvetrain. Get a skunk2 manifold and build your bottom end to like 11:5 cr and i guess you can throw in aftermarket rods. Get your crankshaft polish, lighter flywheel (itr flywheel will be great and its cheap to). So yeh i guess thats about it for now

ok what does getting my crankshaft polished gonna do for me? i was under the impression that the crankshaft is something you really only mess with if your doing some serious serious money dumping into your engine seeing that getting aftermarket crankshaft is 1000 and more, but getting it polished what the hell is that gonna do, sounds like it would cost a lot too. My point of getting pistons and rods was because i figured, correct me if im wrong, that building up bottom end would be harder and more exspensive once i already have my engine in and dont really want to take it out, i figured i can work on the head later since it is a lot less easier to get to, transport, etc. So for a moderately built bottom end what should i do, i am looking for improvements in power, mostly top end, and to help my motor last longer, make it stronger for when i beat the hell out of it.

Give me some feedback
