Like i said a cat back wont do shit for your car if its not modified! You'll need some header to help u get a bit more.

Once again. Not correct. The header gets you minimal gain. It is the item that gets you the most bang from from mods (that give revs). The first mod you do is the muffler/exhaust. Intake seems to be a reasonable deal too. The Honda stock cast iron manifold isn't that bad actually. The stock muffler is very restrictive.

haha, ive got stock piping all the way from a high flow cat to the factory carbon fiber muffler off of a Yamaha R1. the muffler shop 2 1/4 cat back piping is coming soon, they're gonna charge 130$ i think fot that, it sounds pretty good, but you should see a real power gain after the pipe

Just a high flow muffler alone will help. Stock mufflers are so restrictive. Put on a high flow muffler and run a steel rod through your cat a few times and you will notice a difference. Well...I guess most of you guys need your cat...here in WV the dont do emission tests.

You don't have to have the headers. You'll get benefits from the less restricitve muffler. In fact you get more bang for the buck from a muffler than anything else.

shit i got a nice hole in my exhaust right before the glasspack(which is my muffler) sounds like shit right now, but waiting till I get some money to get a 5Zigen axle back and having a shop run some 2 1/4" pipes for 50 bucks.

Mellowboy: You sort of have a point, but you just said it wrong. A new exhaust will help, even without a new header on it, but with a new header, the exhaust will do even more. Any little thing you do to your exhaust will make a difference, might be a small difference, or a large difference. My friend has a Prelude with an aftermarket muffler(can't remember what kind) and shop pipes on it. When he puts his silencer in, it not only makes his car quieter, but also gives him more torque, because he got too big of pipes put on it and the silencer gives him more backpressure.

Its true.. An exhaust and an intake are two of the cheapest, easiest, and most beneficial (for the buck) mods for our Hondas.

Hondas stock exhaust manifold is very efficent.. Thats why a lot of cheaper headers will show LOSS in power in a lot of the RPM band. You have to buy VERY expensive headers in order to get good gains on Hondas because the stock peice does the job very well.

I know what u guys are sayin but don't go sayin that "oh i feel so much difference with the cat -back". Seriously i've experianced it before and did i feel a difference? NO. It only gives around 2-3 lousy hp. I haven't got a cat back for my ride yet. I'm waiting to get jdm header with dc sports cat back at the same time then i can say "wow" what a difference.

I was basing what I said in fact and not what I feel (although banging into the rev limiter hard for the first time after the tail pipe swap was a good data point).

You want to read some of the tests that are done by independant people, like Grass Roots Motorsports. They did an exhaust science project using a chassis dyno on a VW and the results were very interesting.

All I can say is if you have to replace your exhaust cause it's toast toss in a few extra bills and get a good muffler in it. Hell my axle back cost only $225 or so and it's all stainless so mo more rust. That makes for cheap power bump. If you wanna spend $400 on a header for 3-5 hp go for it.

You will need a header eventually, if you do more work to your motor. Whether it is purchased first, or last, it will be needed.

This is my exhaust system, Ractive muffler/tip combo, supposed to increase power (according to them) i think it only gave me like 1 or 2 extra hp lol but the kid b4 me that owned the car put this on, just cut the factory exhaust off and welded this on to the stock pipe... it's stayin like that for now untill i can talk to my buddy at the muffler shop to add a bigger pipe for me so it flows a bit better.
