Smile Tamiya texture

Quote:
What do you mean? Does it come pre painted..or are the carbon fiber lines molded in raised plastic?
Here's an example of what Tamiya has done on a few of their Formula One kits, mostly the later 1/12 ones. Hopefully you can see the "woven" texture molded into the plastic on this monocoque from the 1/12 Ferrari 641/2.

I don't really like this look eventhough it is realistic. If you ever get a chance to look at a Ferrari F50 or F40 in person you can see this pattern beneath the painted bodies which are carbon/kevlar, they don't have the glass smooth finish that you would expect. I've see many race cars with various carbon fiber parts and more often than not the texture is very evident.

I'm not afraid of the Enzo. But I am going to wait and not buy a first-run model. I got burned getting my first Modena the week they came out. The glass was incorrectly sized. They later issued a yellow version, which I would have preferred.

Lesson learned...I'll wait for Tamiya to work out production glitches, since this kit is designed differently than others, there's a good chance something won't be right, and secondly I'd like to think in a few months they'll shoot the body in yellow. Even though I want to build mine black. I don't look forward to detailing all the carbon fiber, since I hate complicated decals. Hopefully I can get away w/o resorting to that.

talking about Carbon fiber, can anyone tell me where can I get BBR carbon fiber? I ask BBR already, but they had out of stock, so any where can I get it, thanks...

I don't think mesh can do a great job in carbon fiber, saw it before and compare with the real carbon fiber...big different. seriously, if really want to have carbon fiber, go get carbon fiber decal, it's real good stuff and worth the money.

Scared - not at all I like decalling!

Ugly car though - a silver and black paint job with some West decals should improve things! :toothless

Blaspheme! You've got old Enzo rolling in his grave

Why not make it very realistic, perhaps a crash diorama thanks to the professional driving of Cantdrive...I mean Coulthard?

Coulthard, thanks God, has nothing to do with Ferrari... If it hadn't been for him, I might actually sort of like McLaren.

And Phil, do you want to die prematurely? j/k

Oops, sorry didn't mean to offend anybody (okay maybe I did - just a little bit :evillaugh )

Genuinely though, the Enzo is not one of Maranello's prettier designs, but I guess that's the result of designing in a windtunnel. It may be blasphemous but I reckon Ferrari's look mean in black, that's the colour I'll order mine in (tell him he's dreaming). I also like competition cars so the West livery sprang to mind. Also I actually have some West decals for A DTM Merc that might fit. Seriously, this is going to happen!

As I've said before , the Enzo's design seems to be more functional than aesthetically pleasing...so it's not the best looking one....although it is starting to grow on me

Sorry if I gonna offend someone here beforehand. So OK that's sorted.

Don't like the Enzo and don't like the hype around it. Never liked any hypes anyway sooo. Am I afraid of the Enzo? No, cause it will never end up on my bench. Plastic or paper have never scared me anyway.
But hey guys, please do all buy the Enzo from Tamiya, preferably 2 or 3, so that they raise enough funds to do the SL55AMG :finger:

of course j/k! You don't even have to joke to put Schumacher in a Mercedes. He started his career in a Merc (190EvoII - C11 - C291) The maranello red however would be a different story.

But IPMS UK always have this "What if...?" category and those kind of projects would most certainly fit into that.

I like those crazy spin offs a lot.

Not to mention they bought Schumi his first ride in F1 with Jordan. Seems to me he only owes Mercedes his whole career!

And what is Maranello Red? These days the Scuderia races in Marlboro Red.

Rosso corsa, what else!

Although you right on one thing, the "official" colour of Maranello is Yellow.
