The pictures may not show the black to good. ![]() ![]() Question I started sanding the tires and the seem is causing a problem. I'm not sure if i did something wrong or if i just did not sand it enough. The seem is not going away, why? ![]() Thanks for looking Zubski |

Re: WIP: 1/20 Tamiya Williams FW-13B Renault
As for the tyres, you should try to spin the tyres using a mini rotary drill (Dremel) and then lay a piece of sand paper flat on the table and buff them up that way. You will probably need more grit if you find that this is not removing the line in the tyre.

Re: WIP: 1/20 Tamiya Williams FW-13B Renault
Yeah, those tyre decals are a right pain. Just replace them with decals out of your next Tamiya F1 kit, and so on, and so on
![]() To minimise loosing them in battle, make sure you put the tyres on first as they will tear if you try and get them on afterwards. Also, cut the decal into a curve with the goodyear logo... you might think it is not worth the effort as you throw the card away, but not so... the curve of the card helps you place the decal in the middle of the tyre wall, so you don't have to move the decal once it is on the tyre. Rub the back of the decal with water on a wet finger until the backing paper comes free of its own accord... it can take time but will be worth it in the end. Oh, and also, I consider it almost essential to clear over the decals (use matt if you want it to look realistic)... the clear will stop the decals rubbing off when you handle or store the tyres. Hope that brain dump helps... Bill |

Re: WIP: 1/20 Tamiya Williams FW-13B Renault
Hey,
Thank-you everyone. I have a problem. The blue decals, when i tryed putting it on the the rear wing it did not want to curve around the edge. I don't know if the decals are just old or i'm doing something wrong. I might have to just paint all the blue. but the blue paint it coming out kind of clear, i don't know if it's just when i use a paint brush, or if it will darken up when i airbrush it with it.And if the decal are good or i jsut did something wrong.... How do i get the decals to go into little dipps? When i tryed to decal the rear wing all the detail went away, because i'm not sure how to make them go in the little dipps or over the little bumps. Thanks for the help, Zubski I should have an update for you on the weekend. I have two study for two quizes tomorrow .

I now try and purchase Studio27 decals to replace the Tamiya decals in any model kit that is more than about 10 years old. If I were to do this again, I would cut the white/red stripe from the edge of the blue decals, paint the blue areas and apply the stripe around the edge. This will give you the best result. If you want to persevere with the blue decals, MicroSet and MicroSol will help but use them sparingly and a little at a time. Use pin pricks to pop bubbles. Some people use a hair-dryer to warm the decal to help it mold... I have never got this to work properly myself though. HTH... any questions just ask. Bill |

Re: WIP: 1/20 Tamiya Williams FW-13B Renault
Great work... I wish I had been advanced enough to fill in the sink holes on my first F1 model
![]() Study the manual carefully for what needs to be yellow and what black on the front wing. It can all be painted by hand if you are careful. The edges of the front wing end-plates should be yellow, only the inside surface black. This model is looking great. Keep up the good work, Bill |
