Quick note on the decals - isn't the GB numberplate wrong? An A-reg plate like that is from early 80's isn't it? Shouldn't it be an 07-reg or 57-reg? I also like decal #16 - why would Audi put a pair of scissors on the 'quattro' badge? ;-)
It's the quattro badge for the grille, you cut it out and glue it on the front. I'll wait and get a PE badge.

Re: Revell Audi R8 out in Europe

thanks for the pix man, I am drooling!!

I hope this comes soon to the US and the rest of the world.

Does anyone know what body mods the R10 version will have? I would think it is going to have something to differentiate it from its little brother, and I hope its something pretty simple for us model folks. The 1:1 car is getting rave reviews, and I have to say the initial photos of the model look excellent too!!

The RS8 (as I've heard it called) has bigger side blades, that I know for sure. That's really the only thing I've seen on the prototypes.

OMG I have to go check my LHS for it now! Thanks for the photos. Quality looks typical of Revell but damnit, I want one so bad! Don't know how I'm gonna finish my Ferraris on time too

That's what you get for having a bloody silly registration system in the UK - Revel gets confused (and it doesn't take much )

At least they remembered to make teh rear one yellow

Re: Revell Audi R8 out in Europe

Hey guys I'm not an expert of Audi stuff: the question is may this one

be used as a base for the R8 engine? I'm not sure if I'm mad enough to cut the LMM R8 resin hood, but also a stand-alone displayed engine would be great.

Any ideas?
(thanks HM for the pict I stolen

edit> sorry for the confusion: I meant the racing R8 LM car

Gio,

Check http://www.mulsannescorner.com/audir8-01-1.html . There's some good pics of a R8 engine from a Le Mans racer. The shape is the same (comparing the 4th image on the web page to the front facia on the sprue) but anything above the cylinder covers would need to be scratchbuilt.

Re: Revell Audi R8 out in Europe

The number plate is an Audi Marketing number plate

A 420 SLM
A = Audi
420 = 420 PS the power of the car
SLM = Series Le Mans, I think.

So its not that stupid

The engines may look similar but they are actually completely different powerplants. The R8 road car uses a 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 engine while the R8 race car has a twin-turbo 3.6L V8. The two cars, despite sharing the name, are completely unrelated.

Apart from the looks, this is a dream car for me. 4wd with only 1/3 power to the front wheels awesome control power there.
If only I had the money for a 1:1
Well, I guess I can settle for a scale one for now
LOL
