Re: Which alternator produces most current?
So anyways, does anyone know if the alternator from the Civic EX (d16z6) produces more current than my stock d15b7 alternator? Or are they the same?

Re: Which alternator produces most current?
Probably the same.. you can check this just by googling "honda alternator output" I'm sure someone has a chart somewhere that will show you... hell, you could even call honda to find out.

Re: Which alternator produces most current?
Most alternators are marked, so if Honda doesn't know, you can call a battery/alternator/starter repair place and ask them, they would probably know.
If it is bigger, my guess is not by much, but it never hurts to check.

Re: Which alternator produces most current?
You can still use a GM one-wire performance alternator w/ a adapter bracket.

Re: Which alternator produces most current?
Heat produced by an alternator increases with the square of the current generated, air cooled alternators larger than, say, 200A to 250A become very large (for example, about 12" in diameter by about 18" in length would be typical measurements for a 300A air cooled unit).
Reasonably sized liquid cooled 300A and 350A units are available - but you have the extra complexity of providing for the cooling system required to use this type of alternator.
