Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

Hi,

@ Mike: the louvers I got from a friend, he cast them the 06 Viper.

@ Lownslow: these rings are part of a "Renaissance BBS 18" 99 (Panoz)" wheel set.

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

How different is your conversion from the KA Models "722" conversion kit? I noticed the rear fenders will end up being different.

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

Hi,

@ ScaleCentral: the KA 722 is a street model, mine is for motorsport.

Here some progress:

Dashboard was cleaned and the lower parts shortened.

... more about the interior

Inner door-parts were modified

Seat with the spezial Mercedes racing design

Here the kit while building it: cleaned dash-board, tunnel smoothed, CF-decals, silver foil towards the firewall as a heat shield. Where you find usually the passengers seat, there is a plastic-sheet for all the electronical stuff.

Battery, electronical equipment and steering wheel with added buttons

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

Whenever you start one of your wip's with putty, I know we're gonna be in for a big treat. This is coming along super and I really like how the interior is shaping up.

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

Going on ...

interior is covered with flat clear

Body is painted, orange is the motorsprt-car colour of McLaren. I intended to use only few decals, as it should look like a testversion

Scalemotorsport CF-decals on the sides

The nearly finished dash:

Working on the interior

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

I am by no means a Mercedes SLR fan.
But your build is awesome. In fact, in the end I might even like the SLR... But just.

But here's some awesome building going on.
Very enjoyable.

I hope I didn't miss it, but how did you achieve that rough finish of the dashboard ?
I've seen several ways of creating this kind of texture in other threads (like Huudo's 307), but your solution seems different.
Could you tell me how you did it ?

Hi,

I use Microballs, kind of rough powder for the RC-modelling. I handle it like flocking, then I cover it with back again.

Re: Mercedes SLR - Racing -

Interesting. Can't wait to see a fitting test with the polished body, quite BRAVO!

If I'll say something electric wires seems a bit ovesized, anyway the interior appeal is neat.
