MFH Aston Martin DBR9 "late" WIP...

Just applied ZERO PAINTS 2 part clear...EXCELLENT CLEAR!!

If you mix the components as recommended, you´ll end up with a high gloss finish (the pic don´t show all the gloss).

It dries in 10 minutes, and it was very simple to use. Great stuff!

Finally, after a couple surreal weeks at work, I found time to do some work in the DBR9.

I applied the decals. They are a little on the thick side but react well with setting solution.The black part of the body is covered with carbon fiber decals from SMS.
I also installed a couple rear body supports (just behind the rear grill), side and rear grilles, headlights, rear lights and Aston Martin badges.

Next, I will prepare the rear wing (more carbon fiber work ) and install the body in the chassis.

Which SMS CF did you use? I'm thinking of using the hi-def variety but for some reason I am hesitating and am leaning towards something with a stronger pattern.

We sure have a lot of DBR9´s out there these days...Your project comes along well. What I don´t understand is, why you choose these dark pics? Any purpose concerning art?

I used the 1:24 Hi-def sheets. I wondered about the accuracy of the pattern, but I reduced a 1:1 pic of this kinnd of carbon fiber to 1:24 scale, and the result looks just like the SMS decal sheet.

It´s a WRAP!!

I finally finished the DBR9!!

The clear parts were a ROYAL PAIN to install. I found out at the last moment the whole clear sheet was a little warped in my kit, so I spent a lot of time (and patience) to warm it and get it to stay in the right shape.

For the antennas I used a couple acupuncture needles (2 different sizes). I had absolutely no problem with the wheels.

Final note: This was my first multimedia kit, and I am very happy with the result! If you are planning to do this one, be prepared to spend a lot of time cleaning, preparing, and detailing the parts, but if you have patience, the final kit will look great! Thanks to MFH for a GREAT kit. At first, I tought this kit was under-detailed, but in the process I found that it has all the detail you need to get an awesome looking model in the shelf.

Done! Next: 1990 Peugeot 405 T16GR!!
