But before I make a decision on that..I still would like to know if there is any way of dealing with the open deck problem..and if different brands for certain parts means anything???

Perhaps you are better suited for a cadillac..or a buick.

I was with you up until the turbo part. It's best to do lots of research when deciding on which one to get. Of course a 3 inch exhaust pipe is just as good as the next, and so is a metal tube with an air filter attatched. But when you get into important things like turbos, and various engine internals, if you go cheap, it just might come back to bite you in the ass. If you find a real good deal that's too good to be true, then it probably is.

As far as keeping it or selling it for a gsx it depends on what you want out of the car and how much you're willing to spend. If you want a fun reliable daily driver then keep your non turbo. If you are looking to get good quarter mile times go with the gsx. On the other hand, if you do go with a track star, you best have a reliable daily driver to carry you to the parts store, and get you around while you wait for parts. Most likely, the more mods you make the more down time the car will have. At least that's how it is with me.

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

If you end up keeping the RS start out with the small stuff. Intake, exhaust, and various tune up stuff. Grab a manual and do it yourself, you'll learn the most that way. While you're working and you see something you don't recognize, try and research what it is, what does. You'll be like, "hey, thats my johnson rod, which is connected to my fetzer valve which releases my headlight fluid."

Eventually you'll start to understand how everything works together and you'll hopefully realize that slapping on a turbo isn't as easy as you think. But rewarding at the end.

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

About the name brand differences....You get what you pay for. How's that old saying go?..."Mod cheap, mod twice".

But yea 85% of the time, cheap crap sucks. Buy good reputable brands.
for example

Alot of people on here with GS's and RS's buy a cheaper ebay intake, ebay header, ebay exhaust, and use with great results.

But when it comes to things like a tubular turbo manifold...cheap is do-do and it will crack.
When it comes to cheap off brand ebay turbos....cheap is do-do and it will blow apart.
When it comes to brakes.....cheap is do-do and you might kill yourself.
Lowering springs and coilovers? ...cheap is do-do and it will make your car suck.

Alot of people run cheaper ebay intercooler cores with good results.

It all really depends on what part it is. But I always buy name brand, thats why I'm broke but thats why my car is so skeet-skeet.

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

Well if you are really not into the RS, sell it and save for a GSX< GS-T, TSI, or TSI AWD. Thats your best bet, they already come turboed, and with the ALMIGHTY 4G63T ENGINE! well, your prolly not gunna get enough cash from your RS to get one of those, so youll have to save. The 420A motor is very reliable tho. You might wanna think about keeping it as a daily driver and saving for another. Smart move in my opinion. and im kinda late on this but Welcome To A/F

Re: alright so i got my eclipse

dood it seems to me if you want to turbo your 420a motor then go with this turbo kit it seems pretty good and is a good source of power.

I wouldn't buy anything from a site that can't use proper spelling and grammar. Who knows what kinda quality their parts are if they don't even take the time to do that correctly. Dood.

Just a piece of advice.... if you are looking for people to help you out, using smart ass comments like "get over it" when they make a simple request doesnt start you off very well. I wouldn't help you for a second if you said shit like that to me, when it was you asking me for help..
