awdsr20 - so fuel lines and fuel pump will need upgrading if i was to put the sr20de in tha ca18det? but wouldnt the fuel pump already be big enough because the ca18det is turboed so shouldnt it be big eneough to compensate for an extra 200cc??
Look into the nissan Frunteer truck it is all in there.
But it's cool just thinking of cheep swaps.
Cause we were stuck with that motor here in the US.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

$2,500 for an N/A SR20!!!! That seems like a lot of money. I don't know much about this engine you're on about, but have you considered an SR20VE?

148kw @ rear wheels, this engine would have to have BIG cams, high compression, bigger injectors etc etc.

As i said i don't know much about this engine so if it has a standard ECU with this engine your in luck. But as the mods I've i listed above you would not be able to run the engine with a standard S13/14/15 ECU, you would most likely need a re-map or go after-market.

I think you should just upgrade your fuel pump. I'm not sure how much power these would flow up to but i don't think it would be a lot, it would probably be maxing out at 148kw atw. Also it's old now so just upgrade it.

As for the Auto-Manual conversion i also don't know exactly what you'd need, the only things i can list would be Gearbox(not sure from what model SR20), Heavy Duty clutch, clutch pedal assembly(not sure whats needed as im not sure if the silvia's are hydraulic clutch)

Also if this conversion does get completed be sure to take it easy! In you're last thread i said you'd be a tool on the roads with a high powered vehicle and you already are a tool and the cars not even high powered(your N13).

If i think of anything more I'll be sure to post. Good luck wit the conversion

Re: ca18det - sr20de

If you really want a 180SX or S13 Silvia i think you should just wait till you find a clean example that's already got an SR20DE and is manual. I think $2,500 for a N/A engine is too much, understandable if it was a worked SR16/20VE but a DE that's too much, that's the price of DET engine.

Your plan to do this swap is a total waste of money IMHO.

CAR - $6,000 - 10,000
ENGINE - $2,500
WIRING LOOM - $???
ECU(Re-MAP or After market) - $700 - $2,000
EXHAUST - $500 - $1,500(Including cheap brand extractors)
GEARBOX - $???
PARTS FOR MANUAL CONVERSION - $???
ENGINE MOUNTS - $???(I don't think they'd be expensive though)
RADIATOR(Auto model has the gearbox fluid running through it too) - $200 - $700

I just did an estimate with the prices i have listed and guessed the ones that don't have a price and it came to a total of $13,900, $14,100 - 200 to get the after market ECU tuned.

Remember these prices do not include labor.

You've still got a fair bit to save before you can buy the car so by the time you've saved about $10,000 you should be able to find a 180/Silvia for $6,000 - $9,000. Just search websites, news papers, car performance magazines etc.

Re: ca18det - sr20de

HAHAHAHA. I just saw your thread on PGA (I'm a member too), make up your mind!

IMHO don't do it. You'll probably run into lots of problems, not to mention gearboxes, once you start making big power they are going to break like tooth picks.

Just buy a 180SX with an SR20DE in it and start with that, they're not hard to find in NSW. Besides RWD > FWD
