Motor

The point of reving high is to keep the motor always in the "powerband" the higher into the rpm you run a motor the more power you get out of the next gear. Don't get me started about why honda did what they did and why. Honda builds cars for gas economy more than performance. The car pulls strong all the way upto 9k, i didn't care if i poped it b/c i could go get anther motor for cheap and swap motors in a few hours. i never poped one and never blew or threw anything. The only thing that i would did to the motor is put in new OEM valve springs, thats it, never got any noticable amonut of valve float. I'm done with this thread.

your a dumbass jmunk. why dont you take your car to a dyno shop and have it dynoed all the way up to 9k. i bet that once you go over 7k, you will lose power, as in the hp will be alot lower than peak and declining as you rev higher. like i said, the redline that honda has set for its motors, is teh optimum rpm to run in. once you go over the redline, your losing power.

Look, I didnt mean to have this thread started to bring up alot of controversy. I thihnk everyone should give everyone there benifit of the doubt, and JMUNK said he know what hes talkin bout, and untill he does anyones engine swap and fuckes up, I dont think anyone can talk shit.... It makes sense to me that u can use a vtec ecu on a non vtec engine for the fact that the engine will never engage vtec so there is no reason to swap fuel and ignition maps to vtec mode... Now the harness thing is fuckin me up 2 becuz of the fact when i tore it down the pistons said pr4 on the top and my ecu sys pr4... I looke up that ecu code on HondataHondata and it says the pr4 is 92-93... But my engine plugs look milky white like the nonOBD cars... This is y im very confused... As 4 the revving the engine might pull hard all the way 2 7k RPM but I doubt it will pull that hard 2 9k RPM... For the fact that the head isnt ported and polished, cams arent made for highRPM, and valve springs wouldnt support 9k rpm, but he did say he upgraded springs so that would allow him 2 rev higher... but not make power, but hey I never took a b18 up that high.... If you could just rev higher w/o changing anything but springs Honda wouldnt have made vtec, they woulda just upped the rev limiter... this is my POV on the subject, but let me know about the year of the engine... How else can I tell the year of my engine??? Im New 2 Honda But Tru 2 Toyota....

Anyways i'd say forget ls v-tec! I want torque yes thats why i'm tryin to grab me a gsr or type r block and mate it with my b16 head in it. Back to the subject. You can use that hf harness. Just take it to the peformance shop and have them modify it for you. Tell them about your swap first so they know what they are doin.

Ok I went out and bought 2 books, the CRX and Integra books and it looks like the pin outs seem 2 be different frum Integ and CRX... So that would mean swapping wires and shit right??? And if I can use the 91SI ecu that would mean I wouldnt have to swap wires so y dont I just use a 91SI ecu and get a 7200rpm redline and less pain frum having to swap wires? Does this make sence to anyone??? Oh yea and I found out the PR4 is also a 90-91 ecu and is OBD1....

Thats the confusing part. 90 -91 integras or NON OBD but have the same ecu code as the obd1 which are found on the 92 +. Its pretty damn confusing.
