I wish they would do that here. So many damn people driving around without any damn insurance and then when they hit somebody they almost never have to pay for it but instead get a slap on the wrist. That has been my experience with it anyway.

Re: For all you street racers

i believe if you're caught after being invlolved in an accident and have no insurace you can go straight to jail. you get your licence revoked, 12-month driving ban and you can car be crushed too.

there's a huge crack-down on that kind of thing at the moment.

Re: For all you street racers

If they do this for street racing why don't they do it for DUI's? I mean something like 16,000 people die every year from drunk drivers and less than 200 from street racing...

Re: For all you street racers

They don't do this for every car caught street racing in Cali - they only do it when they want to send a message. The police dept. holds a press conferences at the junkyard and they invite the media - they don't crush cars unless there is newsmedia present. They did it right before each of the Fast and Furious sequels were released, and they do it at the beginning of every summer - when the ricer/racers start coming out in hoards.

http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?se...rld&id=5408190

"All of the cars have either illegal transmission, or an illegal engine in them. We went through the criminal process on the cases that we could. All of the cars have been through a civil process, for having numbers removed or stolen parts in them. And they've been ordered to be crushed," Higbee noted.

if all you do is crush the thieves' cars, then wont the thief just go steal new parts for a new street racer?

Re: For all you street racers

That seems like a hell of a waste of resources. Couldn't we part out the cars and use the money to build a track or something? Building community-funded skateparks has done wonders to get the skating off public and private property - it only serves to reason that the same would work for streetracing.

Re: For all you street racers

*edit, this thread was on the first page, just a small bump*

This law was just introduced into Australia.

The Government are so pissed off with street racers they are threatening that not only do the people witness their cars being completely destroyed, but the video is to be posted on youtube as an "example" to other young drivers.

Good.

Fuck them..

My cousin was killed in a car crash because of some cunt going too fast, if they think the benefits of a higher ego out-weigh the cost of lives and the effect the decision has on family and friends they DESERVE to have their cars destroyed and the video posted on the internet. This is the best law ever to introduced. Fuck them all.

Re: For all you street racers

Do all street racers in Australia stare at Youtube though? I guess there isn't a much better way to get through with the young folk.
