Pretty much... I was reading an article in one of my Canuck bike magazines, and they claimed it was going to be the most powerful production bike ever, and by a very large margin

Not 100, but the Busa had 160ish, and in this, they're talking about 240+. There's a link to the article on it in the street bikes forum.

Let me give you an example of what so much power is like on a daily basis.
Having a very fast vehicle is like having a huge dick. When you are racing it is all great and happy. But during your daily routine in life, it just gets in the way. |

Pretty much, which is why I'd be content with a Buell Firebolt... More relaxed riding position, more low end grunt to get moving. Easier to ride than an R1, and much less common(at least where I live)
Then again, the most powerful bike I've ever been on was an R6 that a friend of a friend owned, and an R1 is the same bike with a bigger engine...

Well, my Dad and I share an old 80's Kawasaki 550. It's a pretty standard Japanese motorcycle. Too revvy to be a cruiser, too uncomfortable to be a tourer, too laid back to be a sport bike, it's just a UJB (ubiquitous Japanese bike). It does have great pick-up though. And is a blast to ride.
But, god and/or satan willing, someday I will park a 70's Triumph or BSA/Norton sport bike next to Layla. I need a matched set! Though I would settle for one of those drop dead gorgeous all-conquering Ducati 996R's. How many wins did Troy Bayliss have this year on one of those? What I'm trying to say, though, is that a UJB is good for daily use. They can rise to just about whatever demand you ask of them, and require less maintenance than most cars.
