Re: please help, drivetrain issues

It's a safety recall and the government doesn't take it lightly. You can have the transfer case recall performed multiple times as long as it's related to the recall. What I mean, is that if you have the same problem multiple times, they have to fix it. If, for example, you dropped the transfer case and destroyed it, that's not covered. I personally know a guy that have had the lower ball joint recall on the 2g done 3 times.

Be nice when you go in, but don't let them try and push them around. If you can't get the guy at the desk to work with you, ask to speak with his boss. If that doesn't work, there is normally a Mitsubishi sales rep that visits the dealership every month. Find out his name and talk to him directly if you can't get the service manager to fix your problem.

Re: please help, drivetrain issues

This is what I pulled from Mitchell On-Demand.

"Owner notification began July 6, 1998. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997. Also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236)."

You could try that Chrylser number and see if it gets you anywhere.

Re: please help, drivetrain issues

i took off my transfer case and it had no fluid in it at all. the bearings were all scattered inside of it and shards of metal were all over. part of the housing of it was even cracked. so im gonna get another one for $125.
