Quick+cheap solution:

Shape problem: put in the desired shape an air ballon with cardboard stripes, obviously you'll achieve just simmetric shapes.

Skin: with cardboard, I found some silver or chrome plated cardboards, you'll quick simulate panels and rivets, at least not modelling but bricolage LOL

You'll also draw an evelope by illustrator and cut+fold in shape, those cardboard model's guys are awesome.

Reminds me the Teardrop trailer I built a few years back

In the offset printing industry you could find some thin sheets of aluminium, you could use that for the exterior.

No, you missed nothing, it's still not finished. Still waiting in a box, stored in my attic, the day I'll decide to finish it. This project took me sooo long that it nearly disgusted me
