Re: A kill in the rental.
I agree about the G6. Do they even come in a manual? I've only seen autos. I think a factory boosted G6 manual would be a step in the right direction.
And yeah a 1.8t is probably faster than a VR6 but wouldn't the VR make more torque in lower rpms? Just wondering...

They make the G6 manual, most people dont buy them manual though. And the 1.8t actually hits peak torque(@1950rpms) before the VR6 does(@3200) but the VR6 holds the torque closer to redline. Another interesting note is that the 1.8t hits peak hp at 5500rpms and the VR6 hits peak hp at 6200, and redline for both is at 7k

Anyways, here are some 1/4 mile times for similarly powered cars (GTI VW's with the 1.8T and the VR6 engine). Mind you the VR6 with 174hp is slower then the 180hp 1.8T, i'm referring to the 200hp VR6. 2003 Volkswagen GTI 24V VR6. 0-60 6.5 n/a 1996 Volkswagen GTI VR6 6.7 15.1 1999 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 7.8 16.0 (1.8T engine) 2004 Volkswagen GTI 1.8t (manual) 6.5 15.2 as cited from this list: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html

the g6 GTP IS SUPERCHARGED... and a 4 door G6 with a v6 would be luck to run a low 16...

I was reffering to the 200hp V-6 version aswell to the 2002+ version of the 1.8t cause that 99 one had 150hp and that is a huge difference in power from mine stock and i was comparing a 2002 1.8t to a 2002 VR6 24valve (200hp) so technically you havent proved how its faster. You can say they are equal in 0-60 times, but the 1.8t (5speed) does in fact pull away after that(or we could even say for arguments sake that it's dependant on driver), but you know what, lets not bring in a fight that has been going on in the VW boards for years over here. This is about the G6 not the VW.

Re: A kill in the rental.
Yeah the G5 is the ion/cobalt but I think seeing a GXP G6 would be nicer, they have some more room to them and if they started using that new 2.0t engine they have, in the coupes that would be freaking awsome, much better than the 2.0 eaton in my opinion especially for tuning capabilities. Those new sky redlines and solstice GXP's are very nice and very quick, so I don't see whya coupe with the same engine wouldnt be as nice. It might be a bit slower than the solstice/sky cause it would be heavier but it would be nice, especially if it was rear wheel drive.
