If I remember right you can still buy a laptop online that still has XP through Best Buy if you want to. At least that is what the computer guy here in Omaha was saying.

Re: amd laptop without vista

Yeah, I remember all the fuss about XP and product activation and how nobody wanted to use it, and how it was full of bugs.

I think we all remember how big a bag of turds WinME was, too.

The IT department here released a memo telling of all the calls they've gotten from users for support with Vista problems, trying to use their new computers to access our intranet from home. They came right out and said they did the analysis and the testing, and they won't support Vista until the bugs are worked out of it.

They advised anyone considering the purchase of new computer to wait a bit, until Vista compatible updates roll out for the most commonly used apps, namely the Novell stuff.

Shoot, I still run W2k Pro on a few boxes at home, and I'm not even considering going to Vista until it's an advantage for me. I'm thinking of buying my kids new boxes for school, and if I can't get XP on them, I'll wipe them and put a copy of XP on.

Here's a site that lists a lot of vendors selling XP. I cannot vouch for the authenticity of any of the sellers, but this is what I found:
