if you want to compare apples to apples the prelude sh does the skidpad at .89 which ties the spec v, but that hardly proves that its limits are higher, and those numbers are with stock tires. a se or even a regular se-r will probably get spanked but the spec will get it, especially in auto x where the preludes lack of torque gets it creamed, and on a road course where it gets creamed again because its 200lbs heavier than the spec.......i dont know why people rag on the specs so much, or maybe their just ragging on the base model in which case i shouldnt get offended but they are a much better performing car than people give them credit for

Re: Nismo Coilover Drop Pics

no dont get me wrong, specs are fine. im just comparing suspension. its just fact, double wishbones are much much better than mcpherson/torsion beam suspension. why do you think ferraris and such use double wishbones? any other difference between the cars has to do with power, weight, and chassis stiffness and dynamics.

Re: Nismo Coilover Drop Pics

lower cars do better with mcphersons but its hard to lower them and get them to work right, just about every car porsche makes uses mcstruts but they are tuned up pretty good

Re: Nismo Coilover Drop Pics

lol yeah you cant beat the fit and finish of factory sponsored stuff, plus you dont have to worry about blowing your hand off with a spring compressor trying to get your eibachs on your struts or whatnot

Re: Nismo Coilover Drop Pics

its as simple as this. you see hondas with mad negative camber that are dropped? thats because they have double wishbones. double wishbones will add negative camber under compressed suspension. this keeps the majority of the tire patch under the same amount of load at all times. mcpehrsons dont do this, so under compression travel the load is acting more on the outside of the tire than the inside, effectively reducing the useable contact patch. this is all under stock suspension geometry so you can raise the wishbone mount points to lower the shit out of a honda without affecting camber. likewise, adding negative camber on a strut car will make it handle better, but its a comprimise because the tire will not camber in or out depending on how compressed it is.

Re: Nismo Coilover Drop Pics

true but we were talking about stock, of course you can mod cars to handle better and you can lower the spec by fabbing new shock mounts to maintin current camber and travel and still lose 1.5 inches of height for cheaper than buying new springs and dampers, but i was referring more to stock handling performance
